Popsugar Must Have has been my go to lifestyle subscription box since the beginning of last year. It is a little bit different than the clothing subs I’ve tried in the sense that with Popsugar the whole box is an entire surprise. The editors at the wildly successful Popsugar celebrity news site has branched out to curate the Must Have box with the first box coming out in July 2012. These boxes contain fashion, beauty, home, fitness, and food finds. The brands included in the sub range from posh celebrity loved ones to small and upcoming trendy brands, and the value of the box is usually above $100 for a monthly fee of $39.95. There are also discounted pricing options if you go with a longer subscription period.
Here is a look at the January box:
The box also included the Pipsnacks Truffle Pipcorn ($6) which was so absolutely delicious that my kids savored it in about ten minutes. I didn’t even have enough time to take one picture.
My two favorites of the January box are the above two items.
The first is the Juice Generation book by Eric Helms ($20 on cover, can be found for less). I have been contemplating to go a bit beyond my daily orange/lemon juice habit and to start juicing unusual mixes for good nutrition as well as health. This book will be an amazing start both for me and for my kids as it also includes several smoothie recipes. I have already tried the smooth strawberry one and it is approved by my very picky kids.
I am always on the search for great facial masks. The Malin + Goetz detox face mask ($40) has soy protein in it, and works as a 5 minute foaming gel mask. It promises to clean the skin without irritation and also work as anti-aging and brightening product with the help of Vitamin C, antioxidants Vitamin E in addition to the soy protein.I have only been using it for a couple days now. I like the feel of my skin afterwards but I will report back with more reliable results after regular use and let you know if it is theboxqueen approved.
Update: I can give theboxqueen approval to the Malin and Goetz detox face mask. I have been using this mask for over a month now, and it works great for me. My skin feels well moisturized and looks rested when I surely am not. Of course the experiences may vary for everyone, for me this mask is a nice one I will rotate in my routine.
January Popsugar Must Have box also included Jack+ Lucy tech Gloves (about $20). These gloves are very practical, good quality, and would work well for their purpose; to keep you warm while using your phone. I rarely get too excited for practical items though and that is definitely not the glove’s fault. 🙂
Rifle Paper Co. 2014 Cities Around The World Calendar ($16) is super adorable. The graphics of the cities have a lot of the landmarks on it with really cute drawings. This calendar will get a lot of use in my office desk.
Revlon By Marchesa Box O”Files ($3.49). These nail files are portable and by Marchesa a designer I love. I plan to put one file in each of my most used bags and I will always have them near in case of a nail emergency. Their small size is also perfect to travel in tiny clutches for nights out.
Overall the original price value of this box comes to about $106. Popsugar will always have a soft spot in my heart. I stumbled upon a lot of products with these boxes that I may have otherwise overlooked, and got introduced to really cool smaller brands. This month is no different with the face mask, the calendar, and that delectable popcorn.
