It’s time for another Triple Threat Fashion Piece post. I have received great feedback after my first installment of the series featuring destroyed jeans (initial post can be read here). It looks like most of you can relate to using one piece to the fullest and recycling pieces from our wardrobes to come up with fresh outfits.
I decided to give a little more detail for each outfit, my thought process behind it with some style tips along the way. Today’s triple threat piece, seen below, is the sleeveless, green slim fitting dress by Tinley Road (found here at Piperlime) with leather detail on the shoulders.
For my first outfit I combined the dress with black opaque tights, super comfortable Rockport suede black pumps with Adidas adiPRENE (can be found here) so I can keep up with my monsters if I need to, (found here on sale) , and a statement necklace from Wantable. I also added a structured black clutch that holds my phone and credit cards. My statement necklace is original, and a bit out there; and of course I adore it. I think it gives the simple dress an attitude; and I love seeing my friends do a double take to figure out what it is. 🙂 My other Wantable pieces can be seen here and here and here.
Style Tip: I encourage you to experiment with different statement necklaces to elevate your plain tops and dresses. Don’t rule out any style without at least trying it on once. (remember how you had to try new food at least once when you were a kid 🙂 same idea ) Even if at first it’s totally out of your comfort zone; you may end up liking a style you have not tried yet.
To finish off the first outfit I wore my studded collar Rhyme and Echo jacket.( Mine is sold out, similar can be found here.) I would wear this to a date night with my husband, nice dinner with the family, or to drinks with friends.
Style Tip: The classic shape on the jacket combined with the rebellious studs is the perfect combination to add some more interest to the outfit. Mix up different styles to find balance.
My inspiration for the second outfit was a casual day spent in a leisurely pace. I was imagining a day visiting my favorite museum, stopping by a bookstore, and having a cup of coffee. Also because this day would include lots of strolling around, I would need shoes just like my wedge boots pictured above. (a couple of seasons ago Banana Republic, similar here) If you are a girl who shies away from heels for comfort; I wholeheartedly recommend wedges. They are such a happy medium.
I added my colorful, coziest open front cardigan from Stitch Fix to the outfit. A piece like this is a must have for any wardrobe I believe; useful for winterizing a summer dress (I love to mix up seasonal pieces too) or to quickly add charm to an otherwise basic piece like my dress. To keep both my hands free, I added a small cross body bag with a chain strap.( also from BR previous seasons, similar here) I further multitasked my accessories by wearing the Wantable ring I also used in my first post of the triple threat series. (Here)
A warm floppy hat, cream lace tights, Monet Bouquet Earrings,& a gold cage necklace both from Jewelmint completed the look.
Style tip: Using lace tights make a heavily covered outfit feel lighter, more breathable.
As I love to find new ways to re-purpose my fashion pieces, if the fit is right, I also use my dresses as skirts worn with a top over. I am always into cool graphic Tee’s. This V neck Tee worn with the ends tied in a knot makes my dress into a pencil skirt. Black high heel boots add a touch of glam to the rocker inspired look. I could easily see myself wear this anywhere; and most definitely to a concert.
Style tip: Tying the front ends of your Tee into a knot is the perfect way to define/slim your waist.

Final touches to the outfit with edgy earrings and a black large cuff bracelet both from Jewelmint.
I invite you to identify pieces from your closet to re-use. The opportunities with good foundation pieces are as endless as your imagination. I would LOVE to hear how you multitask your pieces. Which staple items do you make work overtime for you?
