Today, in the usually foggy, and rainy NW, it was a gloriously sunny and lovely day! It was almost spring in disguise; and I was near expecting to see some blooms on my dearest cherry trees. The beautiful weather was also a reminder that spring is indeed around the corner and I better start the spring trends series I have been planning. The series start today with Pantone’s color of the year Radiant Orchid, and flower prints I see everywhere. Some examples from the brands will be followed by my adaptations from my closet.
I am absolutely in love with the color of the year. Radiant Orchid is a blend of purple, fuchsia, and lilac. I am so over the moon for the shades of purple all around me; I have been wearing it frequently since my very early years. It is believed to be the color of creativity, and energy; and those are exactly the feelings this strong hue evokes in me.
For me trends serve as inspiration and I only bring trends I really like into my closet. Flower prints are definitely one of this years superstars for me. Any fashion piece becomes feminine with flowers. I love mixing this pattern with sharper pieces for some contrast as well as using them exclusively to feel extra girly when I feel like it.

I encourage you to use trends as inspiration as well and then adapt them into your wardrobe wherever they fit in. I chose to use Radiant Orchid as my pop of color with a shoulder bag, sunglasses, and some jewelery. Flowers are making an appearance on a springy jacket and they also have shades of purple.
Style tip: The flower jacket and the purple bag are so feminine that I wanted to add some contrast and edge with charcoal jeans and black pointy heels. Using pieces from opposite ends of style spectrum, such as girly and edgy make your outfit a bit more out of the box.
