Most of you know by now my passion for Stitch Fix’s monthly styling service. I receive a box each month, ( I would have done more like I used to do, Stitch Fix got so popular they are backlogged right now) with sheer happiness, jump up with joy each time I see the white/green box in my doorsteps, tear into it with such enthusiasm, and share my reviews.

My dear reader Cristina suggested I show you ladies how I currently style my items from previous fixes, and my thoughts on them. (Thanks lovely girl!) I am excited to announce the new Stitch Fix Remix series. I’ll start by showing you how I styled the items in past fix reviews, and how I made them summer appropriate now. These series go hand in hand with my philosophy for style; it’s best to find versatile clothing items you can mix and match to create countless different outfits; makes fashion much more fun to be creative. You can also see my Triple Threat Fashion where I show how to use one item in three looks.

If you are new to theboxqueen ( and so happy you are here!) you can find all my Stich Fix Reviews here. They’ll give you all the information you need on how Stitch Fix works, you’ll see samples of what Stitch Fix sends, and there is also my style tips.

I’ve decided to start the series with three of my “keeper” items from past Stitch Fix’s. The skirt from my January box, the dress from February , and the flower print top from March. Below you can see how I styled each item for the original reviews. I’ll add outfit details after the last pic of each remix look. If the pieces are sold out, I’ll provide my other faves as options.

OUTFITS FROM THE ORIGINAL STITCH FIX REVIEWS

All these three items proved time, and time again how wonderful fits they are to my wardrobe, and lifestyle. They align with my view of style; each one of them have been used numerous times since I acquired them, in many outfit combinations, and for separate types of events.

Let’s start with my love affair with the mint leaf print top from March Stitch Fix.

Pink Martini Olivia Leaf Print Front Pocket Tank is the one item that spoke to me instantly right out of the March box. For me everything about it radiates happiness, cheerfulness- the feelings I try to maintain as much as I can in my life, even through fashion. It also helps the top is in mint, a color dear to my heart, and has cute leaf/flower print on it. I initially paired the tank with an orange pencil skirt. Using classic, and neutral accessories I went for a playful polished look.

Style Tip: Find pieces that evoke good feelings in you. You’ll want to reach to those pieces over and over. I can almost guarantee your “happy” pieces won’t sit in your closet waiting to be worn, and they won’t end up in the “give away” pile in a year. They’ll get a ton of use.

Having pieces like this tank top would do a lot of good for your closet. The color, and print instantly adds some fun factor to a serious look. The tank is perfect for layering inside blazers, and cardigans in cooler temperatures, and pretty worn alone in summer.

The other day I was heading to the mall with a particularly strong air circulation system. That place is chilly like no other. I almost always take a jacket, or a cardigan with me there. I wore my tank top inside this colorful blazer, ( did you notice the polka dot lining in the foldover ? Love fun details like that 🙂 ) paired it with white shorts, and added the same heels. ( that’s one of the most comfortable shoes ever- LOVE this brand)

Style Tip: Shorts can easily go fancy/evening/elegant from casual. All you need is a good pair of heels, a mix of sophisticated, and eye catching accessories, and a good old jacket. You can change up the look from serious to playful just with the change of color in the jacket. Black/neutral colors would be a bit more conservative, while a jacket like mine would be a bit more lighthearted.

Close up of the rings, belt, and bag.

Style Tip: I love a good quality bag. It’s probably where I splurge the most. (and shoes) I think a well made bag will be used for years, and it will hold up much better. For instance this FURLA bag was purchased at least 5 years ago, is used frequently, and it’s still like new.

Love the mix of mint, orange, yellow, and black on the tank.

I usually prefer to use a colorful statement earring instead of a necklace with busy print tops. I like this one for the shape, and the center stone. It’s the same color as the blazer. STITCH FIX REMIX

Kensie Adelyn Abstract Print Drawstring Waist Dress This dress is one the coziest, most comfy pretty dresses I own. It has netting details on the shoulders, and front, and has a modern, on trend pop art print. It was quite effortless to make it a bit more dressy with metallic/velvet heels, a gold clutch, and some whimsical jewelry like the lovebirds necklace.

StyleTip: Don’t write off a traditionally casual dress ( like a drawstring waist one) for an evening look. Accessorizing is everything. A fierce shoe, clutches, original jewelry can transform even the simplest designs. To go a step further with your casual dress, look for little details that’ll help you make it fancier like the black netting on mine.

I had a full day of shopping, sightseeing, and strolling on the agenda a couple of days ago. I thought this Stitch Fix dress would be the perfect piece for a day of activities.

Style Tip: Instead of the more glam items I used above to put together the original outfit, this time I chose charming stud earring, a bangle bracelet, flat sandals, and a hat for when we would stay out under the midday sun. The clutch was switched with a shoulder bag that I also use as a cross body as I get more tired throughout the day. Ta da a great outfit for a touristy day, and something I still feel good inside.

The huge historical aqueducts you can see on the back were built in ( wait for it) 1554 (crazy right?) and were used to carry water to the city. I loved visiting this place and daydreaming about the old times.

41 Hawthorn Walt Striped Skirt This lovely skirt by Stitch Fix’s home brand 41 Hawthorn, was my keeper piece from the January Stitch Fix. I was instantly drawn to the classic stripes, and loved the skirt was a modern green. Classic with a twist. I love that!! ( You can find my other contemporary classics in “Never Out of Style” series )

Style Tip: I always say, you can have your clothes do double duty wearing them in multiple seasons. This is more difficult with pieces like sweaters obviously, but can easily be achieved with tops, skirts, and dresses.

Initially, I winterized the skirt with black tights, and color blocked the outfit styling with a yellow top, and yellow high heel oxfords. I added a big black clutch to complement the black accents in the outfit and added in gold accessories. I tried to keep the classic meets modern balance throughout the whole look.

The Walt Striped skirts lends itself easily to a good weather look. Lately I am into anything, and everything lace. ( Here I published the Lace Trend) I paired the skirt with an all lace off the shoulder top in neutral gray to make the look a bit more girly.

Style Tip: When you want to make a classic/preppy piece a little bit more feminine, pair it with girly fabrics, colors, and textures like this lace top. Same effect could have been achieved for instance, using a pink, crochet, bow tied, or chiffon top. To strengthen the girly vibe, put pieces chosen with the same intent in the supporting roles; such as the statement necklace below, or high heel sandals.

I love my Frosted Lilac Necklace from Jewelmint. I believe it’s sold out right now but they constantly have pieces I like; I am in their preferred member program where I choose to receive or skip a credit for any piece of my liking each month.

Another online store I use for jewelry is Baublebar. Here are a couple great statement necklace options: Purple option, Mint Option (super pretty), Pink Option

photo-24 What’s your favorite Stitch Fix item to remix? Which pieces in general do you use over and over? I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!!! 🙂 Stitch Fix has absolutely been one of the most fun treats I surprise myself with, and the anticipation of my Stitch Fix box makes it all so worth the wait!

UPDATE August 2015: See the latest edition of my Stitch Fix Remix here!!

How has your week been so far?

I have been enjoying my time visiting my parents with the kids, seeing my childhood &school friends, and doing some sightseeing here and there. It’s also a lot of running around for the kids summer activities. I am playing chauffeur extraordinaire pretty much all day, and am exhausted by sleep time. It’s so worth it though. My nine year old came first in her most recent horseback riding show, ( I was screaming and clapping like a mad women – probably really embarrassing her hehe) and the younger ones are enjoying the sun. I can’t wait for my hubby to join us soon for the rest of our vacation here. I would love to hear what you’ve been up to lately. 🙂 <3

It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know each one of you more. Your e-mails, comments, and notes make my day! Please always feel free to let me know what kind of posts you like to see published on theboxqueen. 🙂

  • Do you ever find that a certain outfit pairing looks more flattering AFTER you take pictures for a post?? I do! This remix concept is AMAZING and I think you’re awesome for doing it! (: I love how you remixed the first tank with the white shorts and pink blazer–it’s so summery and chic. And you look HOT in your last remix!

    XOXO, M.

    • Michelle so happy to see you here! Yess I’ve had that happen many times. Sometimes I look at the pics and like the outfit even more. 🙂 I love showing how I use my pieces in remix kind of posts as the concept of restyling existing items and being creative with them is a big part of my fashion philosophy. So happy to know you like it and thanks so much for all the sweet words. XO, Elif

  • Fashionguru

You look fabulous in all the mixes. I loved the shorts and the jacket with the mint top, I honestly would not think to use mint and pink together and now how wrong I was. I think I need that pink jacket.:) The dress looks super comfy and elegant. I also loved the top and the statement necklace how they go together nicely with the pencil skirt.
    You are amazing as usual!

    • You have to try mint and coral/pink together. I love the cheerfulness they bring to an outfit. 🙂 The dress is really comfortable and transitions so easily from day to night. Thanks sweetie, XOXO, Elif

  • Nuray Baysak

This is an amazing post Elif! I love the style tips. They are very useful, I apply them to my everyday outfits all the time. It’s fun to see how you mix and match your wardrobe pieces. All wonderful outfits. I am looking forward to see more of your style as always.

    • I just love to hear you like and use the style tips. It’s so much fun putting them together. I’ll keep bringing more of them 🙂 Have a wonderful week my dear, XOXO, Elif

  • What a great idea! I love it! So often fashion bloggers only show us their clothing item once, never to be seen again. I’d love to see different ways of wearing an item.

    • I agree Amy, seeing many ways of styling an item is I think important especially in practicality. I try to do this as much as I can in multiple series. Have a great week, XOXO, Elif

  • Great post and lovely looks – I really enjoyed it! You’ve done really well restyling the items and mixing them for different looks.

    • Thx Lu 🙂 I love recreating new looks from existing pieces. Have a great week lovely, Elif

  • What a great post idea. I always love seeing the versatility of a particular piece, and a lot of these are great for showing how you transition a piece based on the season/weather. I think my favorite is the printed tank with the blazer and shorts, just because I’d totally wear that since I’m not a skirt/dress person personally!
Gina — On the Daily Express

    • Aren’t versatile pieces the best? Gives our closet much more depth? 🙂 I really liked the blazer combination myself, I felt very me in it. You should give dresses another chance one of these days Gina because I know you would look amazing in them <3 XOXO, Elif

  • Hi sweetie
    So amazing style and outfits
    I love them <3 <3 <3
Kisses and have an awesome weekend

  • I love all of your outfits. I’m a massive fan of colour so I love the bright blazer and the outfit with the mint top and orange skirt (love your coloured heeled brogues!)

    • So am I Lorna, a big fan! 🙂 Color is a very important part of my style; anytime I can use some color I do it. 🙂 Thx lovely! XOXO, Elif

  • I’m a new fan of Stitch Fix and love reading how you use the Stitch Fix pieces with your current wardrobe pieces. I like the striped skirt in the original and in the remix.

    • Welcome to theboxqueen Wanda! 🙂 Isn’t Stitch Fix so much fun? What pieces did you get so far? I am a fan of the striped skirt, it’s a great classic with an edge staple piece. XOXO, Elif

  • Cheryl

Love this post! I love the idea of making clothes work for multiple seasons. My favorite trick is to take warm weather skirts and sleeveless dresses and pair them with tights and boots for the colder months. Congratulations on your daughter’s 1st place, too!

    • Warm weather skirts and sleeveless dresses really lend themselves so well to winter outfits. I totally do the same with mine. A cool pair of tights, boots or high heel mary janes or oxfords and ta da a new outfit. :)) Thanks for the sweetness <3 both Misa and I were so excited for her win! Have a wonderful start of your new week my dear, XOXO, Elif

  • Tban

Love all combinations! Great ideas Elif.

  • I’m so happy to have found your blog. This remix stuff is really unbelievable. I love all the choices esp. the blazer & shorts ensemble because it’s so chic & polished plus I am also sporting that look in my latest post.

  • I have been on the fence about trying Stitch Fix. But, your items were all winners. I especially love the drawstring dress.

    Barbara @ http://www.allmylivesnow.com

    • Barbara welcome to theboxqueen. Stitch Fix is so much fun and you don’t need to commit to it with a sub. I would try one box and see what I think. The drawstring dress is the comfiest cute dress ever. 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • Love how you remixed everything. I’ve tried one Stitch Fix and I’m waiting for my second – so much fun!

    • Isn’t it 🙂 When you get your second fix let me know what you get. Always so much fun to share <3 XOXO, Elif

  • I love how you style these items, this box sounds fab! I actually had a dream that I got one last night, maybe I’m psychic 😉

    Corinne x
    http://www.skinnedcartree.com

    • Haha Corinne I think that dream tells you you should try one of these sub boxes. 🙂 Are there any of them in Britain? Thx girl <3 XOXO, Elif

  • Sibel

Wow speechless! I like all of your combinations. Your lace blouse is so nice! It reminds me princess style wedding gown.

    • You are so sweet Sibel, thx my dear 🙂 I really like that lace blouse, and off the shoulder style. <3 XOXO< Elif

  • Wow, I love what you did with all of your past pieces! I’m really glad to see that you loved the idea, and I think that you did a fabulous job with it! Kudos! As for the mint and coral color combination, I really love it. I LOVE coral and usually pair it with turquoise when I’m in a fun mood, but I should really invest in some mint pieces to mix it up! I’ve actually never gotten a stitch fix, but have gotten one for my mom and we had so much fun. I keep thinking to get one for myself, but I never want to wait the month and a half or so for it! Maybe I’ll treat myself one of these days 🙂 Anyway, can’t wait for stitch fix remix part two!!

    • Yayy, so happy you like lovely girl, loved the idea and will continue with it in various series!!! Thx again 🙂
You have to try mint and coral (though coral and turquoise sounds amazing too) lately I am so into the combo and I think it’s very cheerful.
As to Stitch Fix, I totally understand, the waiting game is tough. When they first started the wait was around two weeks, now they are so popular. I say give them a try once just for the fun of it. I really enjoy tracking what they send me through the checkout page and trying everything with my own clothes. Talk soon, have a wonderful Friday Cristina <3 XOXO, Elif

  • ADA

Such cute pieces and I love the styling on all of them. I swear I pinned everything. My faves are the dress and that green striped skirt. The skirt looks awesome with yellow, black tights and the edgy booties and I love how versatile that dress is both for fancy and casual wear. =)

Have a great new week Elif, Hot Mamma!! <3 Ada.

    • Yayy Ada so happy to know you liked the styling ( makes my heart happy 🙂 and thx for pinning my dear. <3 I seriously love that striped skirt, it goes with so many different tops. You have a wonderful week to lovely lady, XOXO, Elif

  • Leasamarie

Love the teal top! Wondering if stitch fix still carries it.
