I’ve been subbed to IPSY forever. (April 2013 to be exact) It’s still puzzling to me why I haven’t been reviewing my favorite make-up bag here on theboxqueen regularly. I chalk it up to timing as I usually receive IPSY Glam Bag right around the time I take a ton of pics of my clothing subs, and write various theboxqueen fashion series. I had a quick review of the February bag back when I did a giveaway. Today marks the start of my first, proper, official IPSY review.
For those of you that haven’t heard of IPSY Glam Bag before, it is a monthly sub consisting of mainly make-up & color, some hair care, and perfume. It’s $10/month and I usually receive at least the double the value of that. It seriously is one of the best deals around in subs. Every month all the goodies come in a make-up bag specially made for IPSY. I give big props to the company for this idea, it’s quite creative. I love collecting these bags and use them for different purposes such as carrying essentials in my handbags, as jewelry pouches during travels, and storage for kids hair clips.
Let’s have a detailed look to what I got in my June IPSY bag.
The June bag was designed by Rebecca Minkoff. How fab is that? I love her collections. It’s by far one of the best IPSY bag’s I’ve received in over a year.(actual bag that is) Such a cute print! This one is going in my everyday purses, coming with me everywhere. The theme of this June Glam Bag is “Pretty In Paradise”. So very summer appropriate, and wants to make me go to my own paradise like vacation spot. This Month in my IPSY Bag I Received:
- Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner ($5) FULL SIZE
- NYX Butter Gloss ($5) FULL SIZE
- Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare Anti-Breakage Anti-Frizz Styling Cream ($2)
- OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil ($13) FULL SIZE
- Realtree For Her ($1) with a total value of $26
Here is a close-up all the products together!
Carol’s Daughter Sacred Tiare Anti-Breakage, Anti-Frizz Styling Cream: I’ve known this brand and always wanted to try it out; just never came around to actually purchasing their products. I like that IPSY introduces me to brands I’ve never tried before. This is a good product to have at hand. I like frizz, says NO ONE. 🙂 I’ll keep this around for hot summer days when the front of my hair gets frizzy.
NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair: First time trying this gloss as well. ( have tried other NYX products though) It smells great and has the cutest pinkish hue. It has quite a bit of pigment, not completely clear like some glosses. I totally get where the name comes from, it felt smooth when I applied it. I give this one thumbs up.
RealTree For Her: This one I’ve never heard of. It has a floral smell but in time it did turn more sugary on my wrists. I have only sprayed it to test it. After I use more of it (on the neck, hair, and spray and walk through 🙂 ) as I regularly use perfumes, and let it stay on my skin for a longer period of time, I can decide better whether I like the scent.
Color swatches of the make-up products. Nicka K New York Shimmer Eyeliner: It seems like there is one thing the majority of products have in common in my June IPSY; they have never seen my make-up bag before. This eyeliner is joining the other products above in being brand new to me.
The eyeliner is very easy to apply; and coming from an eye pencil gal who is semi-scared of liquid liners, this says a lot. On me it lasted long too. The only issue for me was the color. It is a GORGEOUS blue/turquoise color, however I am pretty attached to my black/grey/dark brown liners. I felt a bit weird with this blue. Maybe it’s a good thing; pushing the make-up boundaries. 🙂 Another reason I love IPSY.
OFRA Universal Eyebrow Pencil: This product actually is the highest value in the bag, and one I don’t intend to use. I’ve just never used one. This is not a problem as I know for sure the eyebrow pencil will easily find a home for itself. I am thinking mom may use it.
Are you subbed to IPSY? Have you received the June Glam Bag? What did you get?
Overall Impressions: My favorite things from this IPSY Glam Bag are the Rebecca Minkoff designed bag, the lip gloss, and hair styling cream. The wonderful thing about IPSY is that it’s so affordable, and when there’s smt. you are not personally going to use, you can make a lovely gift out of it. I received more than the double of what I paid for this bag, and I am happy with it.
I can’t wait to hear what you thought of this month’s IPSY Glam Bag, and if you are not subbed yet what your thoughts are on my June bag? It’s such a pleasure getting to know you more, and chat here or on social media. Please always feel free to ask questions, tell me if there’s anything you’d like me to cover, or say hi just because. I love your notes, and e-mails! <3
