My dear theboxqueen family, hope you are having a great summer so far. As some of you may know, I am traveling on and off this summer, and right now overseas continuing our vacation.( some places I love you’ll see below) My husband, and I are united finally and he has brought me my mail including my June Golden Tote. Here we go with the belated $49 tote review. If you are new to theboxqueen, you may want to start by reading my previous reviews of Golden Tote here. This is a great place to get more in depth info about the company, how the tote works, and a LOT of samples of the boutique quality brands they send.
This month my choice item was the Florence short in navy, and Priddy by Puella Slouchy Pant in print was my surprise item. ( one of the most worn surprise items ever) You’ll find how I wore them in real life but first some key points about Golden Tote.
- The company is found by two friends Sarah Becker, and Sarah Sweeney. Each month they curate a beautiful collection of boutique quality pieces. They are also the founders of Puella sold at Anthropologie along with Priddy by Puella found in the totes. You need to know, these ladies are the sweetest of people, always so helpful. <3
- Golden Tote comes out with new picks each month. You choose one or two depending on which tote you are purchasing, ($49 or $149) and the rest is a mystery. This surprise factor is exhilarating for me (no, seriously it really is! 🙂 I LOVE anticipating what is coming in that white/golden tote bag)
- The favorite picks of the month sell out super fast. Some ladies even purchase multiple totes, so if you like something you need to act fast. I strongly recommend subscribing to their newsletter to get all updates Golden Tote. They let you know via e-mail when that month’s sale will be live.
- There is a Facebook group for Golden Tote mega fans like me, ( Golden Tote Trading Group) and if anything doesn’t fit or you don’t have a place for an item in your closet for any reason after you receive it, you can trade it with the lovely ladies there. This is also a wonderful place to discuss anything and everything Golden Tote. Believe me you’ll need a place like this. Once you purchase a tote you’ll be hooked forever. 🙂
Above you see me in Istanbul, visiting a seaside neighborhood complete with an open bazaar selling accessories, and vintage decor. Simply paradise for me. <3 My slouchy pants were so comfortable to walk in all day long, and I felt stylish in them as well. A hard to find combo.
Enjoying a little break at a store selling the most interesting knick knacks. The bag is also from when Golden Tote did accessories surprise tote.
Style Tip: I wore my printed slouchy pants with a boat neck top that has an half open back, and studs on the tiny sleeves. Paired with flat sandals, this outfit carried me through a day of strolling around, walking on cobblestone streets, eating lunch, and a boat ride. For me this was the ultimate marriage of casual, and cool.
I also wore these pants another day, this time at night, paired with a simple black lace tank top, some bold accessories, and my lace high heel booties. ( booties seen here and here before) The pants surprisingly lent itself super easily to a more glammed up date night look. I recommend you try the pants in a similar, fancier outfit.
In front of an old door.
I wore my two compass necklaces both from Jewelmint. I have a thing for compass’s. I think they are super cool, and I collect them on necklaces. The wind got the shorter one a bit loop sided here. 🙂
Here we are taking a boat ride on the Bosphorus. This is the strait on the Marmara sea also connecting European side of Istanbul with the Asian side.
The back of the top adds a bit of drama to the otherwise mellow outfit.
The Florence shorts are my pick from the June Golden tote. I especially liked the color combo of the navy, and orange with a hint of white and purple. I also found it interesting that the short looks like a skort without actually being a skort if it makes sense.
Style Tip: These shorts obviously are very easy to style casually. Just add a plain tank top & flats, and you are good to go. I thought they had a nice classic print that could work well for a more formal look.
I was going to a dinner party for a celebration. The button down see through shirt, with a cami under, grounded the more playful vibe of the shorts. To keep the fun energy, I let the ties loose instead of making them into a bow. The slingback metal toe shoes completed the look along with my neutral bag.
I thought my Heather Belle necklace from a previous Popsugar Must Have box would go well with the neutral coloring of the rest of the accessories.
A closer look at the details.
