Hi ladies, hope your Wednesday morning has started off nicely. I woke up really early today, and trying to savor every last bit of the last day of 2014. 🙂 How is your morning of December 31st? What are your plans for the day? We are having friends over for a dinner party which
has been a tradition for the past couple years.
Wantable has been in my life for a long time now, accessories boxes that is. I’ve been meaning to try and review their Make-Up Box, and finally getting around to it. To learn more about the company, especially if you are new to theboxqueen, you can start reading from all my previous Wantable accessories reviews.
UPDATE: Between 02/09- 02/28 there is a special 30% OFF offer with this link. It’s good for accessories, make-up, and intimates. These don’t come often, great discount to take advantage of to give Wantable a try.
To give you a quick summary of how Wantable works, you either try it for a one time box for $40 ( if you don’t want to commit without seeing how you like the boxes), or you can subscribe monthly at a slightly discounted price of $36.
Wantable ships free in US, and for a small fee also ships internationally to Canada, UK, and Australia. The value is usually at least twice of what you pay for in accessories boxes, however sometimes apparently its much more. ( like this box) I was so impressed with the product and value I got for my $. One important thing to note is that Wantable accepts returns and refunds your $ in full if you don’t like your box for any reason. Very unique feature, especially for subscription boxes.
My December Wantable Make-Up Box had four pieces in it. A face primer, a sparkle body spray bronzer, loose eyeshadow, and a lipstick.
Let’s look into each item in detail.
LORD & BERRY LOOSE EYESHADOW PIGMENT DARK VIOLET $15
I was very happy to receive a loose shadow. I have many hard pressed ones already and this one is different and a welcome addition to my make-up counter. I like loose shadows especially because I feel like I am more in control of how much product to use with them.
I know some of you ladies prefer pressed shadows for their neatness however loose shadows don’t have to be messy. Depending on the intensity you desire to achieve with your eye make-up, you just put a small amount ( due to their highly pigmented color a little goes a long way) on the back of your hand and dab your brush to build the color. You can practice on a white cardboard first until you get the hang of getting out just what you need.
This particular shadow is a gorgeous purple, and packs a punch even when used in the tiniest amount. I love that, and I am very happy this Lord & Berry shadow showed up in my Wantable Make-Up box.
VINCENT LONGO DIAM BODY SPRAY BRONZER $35
Ahh the Vincent Longo Spray Bronzer!!! It deserves the exclamation marks; which girl doesn’t like a little bottle with a red sprayer that looks like it landed right from the 40’s glamorous Hollywood movie era. I absolutely adore it. It reminds me of a gorgeous make-up vanity table, with a pink tufted vanity stool, and I dream of curling my hair Veronika Lake style, while covering my arms with the sparkling highlights of this spray. Maybe that should inspire my next decoration project. 🙂
The Vincent Longo Spray Bronzer is more of a highlighter than a bronzer that leaves your skin with a lovely layer of subtle shine, and makes it look smooth, and pretty. My girls, like expected, were as fascinated with this little bottle, at one point I thought I wouldn’t see it again haha. My 4 year old held it a little too long. 🙂
This spray is also perfect to add a touch of gold shimmer to your neckline & shoulders when you are wearing a special event dress, or a fancy date night top.
OFRA ABSOLUTE COVER FACE PRIMER $35
I’ve never had an OFRA product before so I was excited to see it in my box to try. I love the functionality of primers, and ran out of mine a while ago. This product is more of a must have basic product which is great to have in a box of such fun items, and it is used under your BB Cream, or regular foundation.
I love primers. They make your skin ready for what goes on top, making your BB Cream/foundation look better, they smooth your skin, and help conceal some imperfections, almost like a velvety fabric draped around your skin. They are especially great for me as I rarely use regular foundation. For special days, my BB cream needs the help of a good primer for my make-up to look, and stay vibrant longer.
I tried the OFRA primer on two occasions so far, and I was happy with the consistency, and the ease of building it with my BB cream, and blush. So very happy to have received this!
SURRATT BEAUTY LIPSLIQUE LADY BUG $34
The final item out of this Wantable make-up box was this Surratt lipstick. Sold at stores like Barneys, this product is kind of a cross between a lip gloss, and lipstick. It stayed on my lips much longer than a gloss, but had a lighter consistency than a traditional lipstick. You can see the color above. I use a lot of red tones on my lips, for me this is a bit less understated than my full on red matte lipsticks; very useful for everyday.
The staying power was pretty nice for a lighter product. After I drank my coffee, and some of the product was left on the cup as an imprinted lip shape, I still had a strong red hue on my lips. One thing to note is that the applicator does not retract. If you end up purchasing this beauty, make sure to only propel the lipstick little by little.
Overall Impressions: Saying I was impressed with my first Wantable make-up box in a long time is seriously an understatement. I think the box speaks for itself but I must say it again, the products and value in this particular box is amazing.
I got four items in really nice brands, all four are high quality, all four will get great use, and wow the total value is $119. Considering I paid $36 for this box, I got three times more than my money’s worth. The value means so much more when the items you get are well chosen, and are of great quality.
The Wantable Make-Up box is a great option to treat yourself to some fun, functional, and high quality products at great discounts. As Wantable has an incredibly generous return policy, there is no risk involved either. Total LOVE.
Have you ever tried Wantable Make-Up Box? Which products did you receive? Would love to hear your experiences.
