Ladies, how do you stay connected with your family and friends in different parts of the US, and around the world? For me, if there is one gift of technology I can’t live without (well, besides tablets, smart phones, and email, LOL ) it is Skype.

IMG_8001 Why, you may ask? You may already know that my parents and my family live very far away. Some of my best friends live all over the US, and in various parts of the world as well. I would probably pay thousands of dollars in phone bills each month if not for Skype’s free service. Not only that, but I also use Skype with my friends that live only a couple miles away from me in Oregon, in my own town. It’s just so lovely to see each other on the video while talking for hours about every little detail that we may have skipped over conventional phone conversations. Skype makes it feel like you are in each other’s living room sipping coffee, and doing girl talk. IMG_8778 One of the many ways I use Skype is for Fashion Talk. I just LOVE exchanging outfit ideas with my close friends, showing them my recent purchases, and deciding what we’ll wear to events we are attending. It’s so much fun to chat with them just like they were right next to me. We sometimes leave the video screen open, go take care of chores around the house, or run errands outside, and come back to the screen.

You can also take Skype on the road on your phones. I’ve been known to go to a new place, call my loved ones on Skype, and show them around. If you see a girl at a new popular restaurant holding a phone up on the air, moving it from side to side, it may be me. 🙂  I also do this at my favorite stores while shopping for clothes, or shoes. I ask my mom or my friends what they think of that cute shoe, or the pretty bag.

Here you can see how one of my close friends and I decided what we would wear to a dinner we were going together. At the time of this video chat, I just bought the flower dress on the right. I was asking Sibel whether I should choose to wear that new dress for dinner, or go with my white/turquoise dress on the left instead. Screenshot 2015-03-07 10.34.22My friend showed me her new clutch, and the gorgeous fabric printed shoes she scored at a sale. Screenshot 2015-03-07 10.33.59 She wasn’t sure if she should keep these beauties. We discussed whether they are worth what she paid for them. I thought they were so stunning, and told her she had to keep them. There was only one pair of these pumps left at the store, and there was no doubt they would be swept up immediately if she returned them. Total keepers!! IMG_7982 At the end of our talk, she decided to keep her new heels, and I made a decision on which dress I was wearing for the night (my new floral mini). Skype helped me out with a style dilemma like it always does. Do you use Skype for connecting with friends? Do you use it to share outfit ideas, or to decide what to do with recent purchases? If not, you should try it once – I can bet you would become a forever fan. Find Skype on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and download the Skype app to connect with friends. IMG_8099

What do you think ladies? Did my friend, and I choose the right dress for our dinner night out? 🙂 My hubby thought it was just the right decision.

  • Sibel Gultekin

As close friends, we want to be in touch all the time. I feel that Skype has given us a wonderful way of staying together even when we are apart.

    • Theboxqueen

It really did. With so many loved ones all over the country and the world I can’t imagine my life without it. 🙂 So fun for our fashion talks too. <3 XOXO, Elif

  • Tulay Ban

Perfect choice! I agree with @Sibel Gultekin. It connects friends for when you need that suggestion on a specific purchase. 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

It connects us and makes us feel like we are in the same room chatting face to face. For instance when I talk to my mom I love that I can just keep my screen open, go about my day, and come back to it like we were in the same house. So fun. XOXO, Elif

  • Cheryl

Such a cute post. I do the same thing, fashion talks, with my best friend. P.S. I have the same top that Sibel is wearing, from my last Stitch Fix. 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

Skype is so fun right, I love the face to face girl talk quality it has. Also Yup that’s a Stitch Fix top. She became a SF fan as well after my SF obsession & all the posts haha, and we both really liked that top she kept. :-)) How fun you have it too!! Have a wonderful new week dear, XOXO, Elif

I use FaceTime with my mom almost daily so she can chat with her grandson. My son knows his my mom much better than his grandmother that lives 10 miles away though my mom is 2,500 miles away.

Fun to chat with your gf this way, we do mostly pics to get input on outfits too.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.

The same happens with my parents – they live so so far away, we usually only see them in summers, however they are keeping very close with my kids thanks to Skype. I seriously can’t imagine my life without it. I also use it with my friends that live in the same city LOL, super fun to quickly show them fashion buys. Happy Thursday dear. XOXO, Elif

  • Sophia

I am the same way. Can’t imagine not using Skype. I talk with my college & high school friends in different states via Skype. so much better than a regular phone call.

    • Theboxqueen

It’s way better than a regular call I agree. Skype is so much more personal, and feel like face to face conversation. 🙂 Have a wonderful week lovely. XOXO, Elif

  • Girls are girls. I know exactly what you mean and I do some of these same Skype chats sometimes too 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

Skype chats are super fun. I seriously can’t stop using Skype every single day. It’s on my phone, tablet, lap top everywhere I am 🙂 Hope you had a great week dear. XOXO, Elif
