Finally it happened. I opened my Stitch Fix box, and with a squeal, under just 5 seconds I told myself I would definitely keep one of the items. See I usually try each piece I get with my own clothes/ accessories, and take my time. I didn’t have to with this piece as I’ve been swooning over it for a while. So very excited it’s staying with me. The rest of the box was super cute too, and I may as well start telling you about it all from the beginning.

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

Whether you are trying to decide if you want to order a Stitch Fix of your own, are on your fix #23 like me ( I feel like such a Stitch Fix veteran 🙂 ) or whether you are waiting for your first box, I invite you to start your reading at TheBoxQueen’s Stitch Fix section with all my previous reviews. There you’ll find a wealth of information on how Stitch Fix works, how to get your best box, and see the types of brands & pieces they send in outfits I put together along with my style tips. There’s even a Stitch Fix Remix Series ( second edition is coming very soon )

As asking for accessories in my March Stitch Fix for the first time was such a success, I asked for them again. I ended up receiving two tops, a pair of patterned jeans, a green satchel bag, and a cuff bracelet in my April box.

Are you ready to see everything I received in detail? As always I am starting each piece with Stitch Fix’s nifty styling cards. These cards are super useful to collect, and refer back to. You’ll also find my style tips, and all the outfit details under the pictures. Let’s begin. <3

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

I’ve seen the Dear John jeans before, and I think I even pinned them on my Stitch Fix pinterest board. ( I update my board frequently with my SF outfits, and new Stitch Fix offerings. You can find it here) I like how Stitch Fix styled the jeans with flats, and heels for day & night.

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

Dear John Niki Cropped Skinny Jean ($78)

As soon as I held these jeans I thought they would make a lovely outfit for a day around town.   I paired them with this Green V Neck Top. It comes in 5 colors, looks great with a bralette, and is a versatile spring/summer basic. I bought this top in 3 colors. I wore low heel mint sandals, and modern jewelry including the bracelet from RocksBox . ( see my review here, and receive a month of free subscription with code Theboxqueenxoxo )

The exact same jeans can also be found here.

Style Tip: Busy patterns such as these cropped jeans become the center of attention in an outfit. It’s best not to overpower them with other busy elements, and keep the rest of your pieces clean. I purposefully chose a solid color top, color block mint sandals, and delicate accessories. Even my clutch is a neutral to add balance to my look.

For your reference I am about 5 4′ to 5 5′ and these cropped jeans look more regular length on me. I actually love the length.

STATUS – UNDECIDED. These pants are really cute. As you’ll see below though I purchased two new jeans, and also bought the white rose ones from my March Stitch Fix post. I feel like I went overboard with jeans lately. As I had only a couple days to make my decision, I sent these jeans back to Stitch Fix. I am seriously thinking of purchasing them here soon though.

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

This colorful tie-back chevron sleeveless top was one of the two tops I got in my April Stitch Fix. In the styling cards they showed two outfits with it; one with a cardigan, and another in a blazer.

STITCH FIX REVIEW - APRIL 2015
STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015
  •  Olive & Oak Arynn Tie-Back Chevron Print Tank ($48)
  • Urban Expressions Elisha Zipper Accent Structured Satchel ($58)
  • Zad Leon Multi-Colored Beaded Cuff ($34)

I think my longtime stylist Ishara had a pattern going on here with these three pieces that could go together ; she is talented like that in choosing cool pieces. In my opinion, the colorful Zad bracelet, the STUNNING green satchel ( Hint, hint 😉 ), and the chevron top match so beautifully.

Style Tip: When you have a multi color piece to start your outfit with, look closely to figure out which colors would compliment it. My goal here was to come up with a romantic, springy look.  These pink jeans in the perfectly on trend hue act like a spring neutral against the rainbow of colors on the chevron top. I introduced pop of other colors with the bead bracelet, and the green bag but kept my high heels a true light brown neutral as an anchoring piece.

These pink skinny jeans are one of my latest purchases. This shade of pink is pretty popular this season, and I love how it can act like a neutral with so many colors in the warmer months.

STATUS:

1) Olive & Oak Arynn Tie-Back Chevron Print Tank – SENT BACK

Although very pretty, as you may see from my pictures this chevron tank is see through. I would need to wear another layer under it at all times which I found to be kinda cumbersome. In addition I already have MANY chevron pieces in my wardrobe. I sent this piece back.

2) Urban Expressions Elisha Zipper Accent Structured Satchel – KEPT Ladies this satchel is IT. It’s the piece that had me at hello, and I am holding onto it never letting go haha. It found its deserving place in my dressing room.

3) Zad Leon Multi-Colored Beaded Cuff – SENT BACK

What a gorgeous bracelet. I have so many similar bracelets in nearly identical colors so it made sense to send it back. Love the fit of it too. Check out the same one in silver, and gold.

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

This lace detail long sleeve top was the last piece in my April Stitch Fix box. Both outfits in the style cards featured jeans, and I agree that this top was made to be worn with jeans.

STITCH FIX REVIEW – APRIL 2015

Loveappella Georgini Lace Detail Knit Top ($54)

The Loveappella lace detail top is super soft, and has a relaxed fit. I bought these more relaxed style destroyed jeans ( you know I have a slight obsession love affair with destroyed jeans. Ok maybe not so slight haha it’s at I can’t NOT buy one when I see one proportions ) These ones are so comfy, and perfect though. Really!!

Style Tip: A long sleeve lace detail top, jeans, and pumps is an effortless everyday outfit which you can make special with little touches. Half tuck your top, add your favorite necklace, and find a purse that adds color to your outfit like my red one adds a punch to the navy dominated look.

STATUS – SENT BACK

Right now my shopping is in the “in between” stages. I am buying a lot of short sleeves, spring jeans, skirts, and dresses. I think if this top was short sleeved I would probably keep it.

  • Tulay Ban

Sad to hear you sent the pants back. This month’s box contains lovely pieces. The bag is a great choice. I loved the color and the shape.

    • Theboxqueen

Tulay those pants are super pretty however I bought so many jeans back to back. I am glad I found them online so I know I’ll go back and buy them in a couple weeks. 🙂 The color is really special. I ADORE my keeper item though. <3 XOXO, Elif

  • My favorite pieces in this fix are the purse and the lace shirt. I actually just bought a purse very similar to this one and can’t wait to use it this spring.

    • Theboxqueen

Amy I am in love with the green bag; zipper detail and that color is so pretty. The lace top was lovely, wish I received it a month or two ago. Overall I love receiving my SF for sure. 🙂 Have a great new week dear, XOXO, Elif

  • Sibel Gultekin

I like the pants, bag and lace top. The bag is versatile, it can always be used in spring!

    • Theboxqueen

The color of the bag really grabbed my attention as soon as I saw it in the box. So happy I kept it. 🙂 Happy Monday dear, XOXO, Elif

  • Laura Miebach Maya

what’s the size of the green top from Nordstrom? Is it juniors? And just out of curiosity, what colors did you pick? I am buying for my sister and I’m undecided about the color… Thank you!

    • Theboxqueen

Hi Laura! Yes it’s juniors. I find a lot of cool basics from there. The size is XS and I bought in colors Avacado ( this one), Merlot, and Frappuccino. I think they’ll be great with patterned jeans, skirts etc. Hope this helps 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • ADA

As always such a good, thorough review. I am glad you kept that beautiful satchel. I also love those water-color skinny jeans and the chevron tank. I would have kept the jeans. They fit you so beautifully.

    Happy Tuesday Elif!

    • Theboxqueen

Ada thanks for the sweetness dear. <3 I love love the satchel. I went overboard with jeans but I think I'll purchase them later, I found them online 🙂 This box it was hard for me to keep myself from purchasing everything haha. Hope you are having a fab Wednesday! XOXO, Elif

  • It’s a shame you didn’t keep the tank as it is so cute! 🙂 Although I wouldn’t want something that’s so see-through either, makes it tricky to wear as you have to layer and it can get too hot to do that sometimes. Glad you loved your green bag so much so you kept something and they weren’t all things that were not quite right for you.

    Away From The Blue

    • Theboxqueen

The tank had such refreshing colors, I wanted to keep it – I always want to keep everything but restrain myself haha. Exactly like you said though two layers is sometimes too much for summer. Now I’ll say this and next thing I buy will be a see through top :-))) Thanks Mica, I really love my green bag. Happy Wed. XOXO, Elif

  • The patterned jeans are SO cool! This was a great box all the way around. 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

It really was Abby. It was so hard not to keep everything 🙂 Thanks for saying hi. <3 XOXO, Elif

  • Lorna Mai Ltd

Those paint splatter jeans are such fun and i love the chevron top. you look great.

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Lorna! The jeans are super fun. I was already thinking of purchasing them later, and I think hearing all this feedback now it’s a sure thing. :-)) Have a wonderful week lovely. XOXO, Elif

  • Happinessatmidlife

I have not tried SF but am not really tempted since I already shop way too much. I am worried about my lack of self control will make me keep everything. You got some cute things in, really loving the colors of the chevron top.

Hope to see you Thursday for TBT Fashion link up.

    • Theboxqueen

Alice Stitch Fix is so super fun!! Believe me if I can exercise self control so can you as I am BEYOND tempted each month to keep it all LOL. This month was so fun to style, and I always love it when I get color, patterns, and unique textures. Have a lovely Thursday evening. XOXO, Elif

  • Elissa Miller

I just joined SF and my first box comes April 20th. I am afraid I cannot afford anything in the box and I am such a bargain shopper that I know I can’t splurge like that every month. I was wondering if you could give me any pricing info? I chose ‘the cheaper the better’ for all of the options but I’m still afraid everything is out of my price range. I can’t spend $200+ every month but I’ll be so sad if I can’t keep anything! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    • Theboxqueen

Elissa how exciting; I of course think you’ll LOVE Stitch Fix. 🙂 I have a few suggestions. First is to make sure to mark “the cheaper the better section” which you already did. Second is to write it on the body of your style profile where you give your stylist information. Tell them you have a $ number limit on what you are likely to pay for your items. I would also make sure to mention it on the note to your stylist which is on the main account page.
Although Stitch Fix is not exactly discount shopping, these strategies may help you receive more reasonably priced items. You may also decide some items you get may be worth the $. Hope it works out for you dear. Please come back and let me know after the 20th how your experience was. Happy weekend! XOXO, Elif

  • Love the purse! Green handbags are the thing right now for Stitch Fix. I received one as well. And I LOVE it. Review on http://www.LiveGrowWrite.com Thanks for sharing your review. You have such unique style I always look forward to your reviews!

    Ann

    • Theboxqueen

You are very welcome! Very happy to hear you enjoy my Stitch Fix reviews. I love putting them together. 🙂 I am in love with my green bag, and yours seem to be a different style of it. Happy weekend. XOXO, Elif

  • Megan

Love the jeans! I really want to try Stitch Fix, but need to wait until I get a new job;)

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks for stopping by Megan. The jeans are really comfy. Have a lovely weekend, XOXO, Elif

  • Ruby Quiroz

    love the purse!

    • Theboxqueen

Ruby me too- I use it a lot. 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • Kara H

    I love the lace top

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks for stopping by Kara. 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • ChristinaAyn

I love how you played up the colors of the chevron tank rather than covered them up like on the style card

    • Theboxqueen

The chevron top was such a fun piece to play around with. So happy you liked and thanks for stopping by. XOXO, Elif

  • Kelsey

    Love the bag!

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Kelsey. I use it and love it a lot too. XOXO, Elif
