It’s time to review my Stitch Fix #28 and of course it’s one of the most fun times of my month. It’s always a pleasure to anticipate what’ll show up in my Stitch Fix boxes and I enjoy styling them to share with you ladies.
For my August Stitch Fix, I asked my stylist to send me transitional pieces that could work in the upcoming fall. I also specifically asked for a colorful, fun clutch. I seem to use them quite
a bit lately. They dress up even the most casual outfits. My longtime stylist of course
delivered once again on both counts. 🙂
Before we start, if you’ve just discovered TheBoxQueen, I invite you to start your reading from the detailed Stitch Fix Review section. There you’ll find EVERYTHING you need to know about Stitch Fix, and see all the pieces I get styled in outfits.
In a short summary, Stitch Fix is a very fun personal styling service.
You fill out a style profile, (my advice is to be VERY specific when you are filling this out. I believe a Pinterest Stitch Fix Board is a must for getting your best fix. Here is my Pinterest Stitch Fix board that I update with new styles, and my SF looks) schedule either a one time, periodic ( i.e. every two months), or ongoing service, and pay a $20 styling fee. ( which is completely applicable to any purchase you may make)
When you receive your Stitch Fix box you have three days to try out your pieces with your existing clothing. All the items you are not keeping you send back in the enclosed, pre-paid envelope. It’s really convenient, and such a time saver for busy people, which is pretty much anyone nowadays. 🙂
In my own experience, Stitch Fix pieces chosen for you get better as your stylist gets to know you more. As I mentioned, a style profile with a lot of info, a Pinterest board, and detailed feedback on your check-out forms help so much.
Let’s move on to what I received in my August Stitch Fix. This month I ended up keeping one piece ( read my criteria for choosing my keeper items here) but genuinely liked most of the sent items.
The first piece out of the box was the Papermoon Crochet Trim Top. Stitch Fix includes styling cards with each box. They styled the top with jeans in both day, and night outfits.
Papermoon Settee Crochet Trim Top ($48)
I also chose to style my top with pants however I went with purple capris to bring out the lilac in the tank. I added my cage booties (similar option here) and my favorite accessories.
My jewelry pieces are the light green Kendra Scott earrings & Loren Hope bracelet I kept from Rocksbox ( See my reviews here and get your FREE MONTH subscription at Rocksbox with my CODE: theboxqueenxoxo) I also used the unique Wantable ring I received in July .
Style Tip: As the crochet trim on the top is special, I would mostly use this tank top untucked over pants, denim, and various pencil skirts. I think for a happy, cheerful look, taking your cue from the various colors in the top, and using one as a base for your bottom works great.
As I don’t like being too matchy-matchy, I chose to go with purple pants. ( lilac/purple is the least dominant color in the tank.) Adding a couple statement accessories, and neutral statement shoes made the look feel like “me”.

I said it in the beginning, I liked all the pieces in my August Stitch Fix. I ended up keeping just one piece and it came down to what I needed. I recently bought a couple crochet trim tops (this Modcloth one is a recent purchase) and passed this one.

Stitch Fix styled Donya Crochet Dress with flats and a jean jacket for day and heels & a clutch for night.
Brixon Ivy Donya Crochet Dress ($88)
I actually pinned this crochet dress on my Pinterest Board a while ago. My lovely stylist granted my wish and sent me a beautiful green version.

Style Tip: I would absolutely wear this crochet beauty with heels and statement jewelry. It’s not a secret I am a heels type of girl ( although motherhood often demands that I wear my flats 🙂 ) and every chance I get, I love to wear them especially with gorgeous dresses such as this one.
The dress is very well-made and has an amazing fit. Just adding stud earrings, a Rocksbox crystal statement necklace, and my favorite colorful Zara heels was enough for the dress to stand out. ( Get your FREE Month of Rocksbox here with CODE: Theboxqueenxoxo )

In a perfect world I would have kept this piece. The color is so pretty, and the fit is just right. Not knowing I would receive this one from Stitch Fix, I bought another crochet dress about a week ago. ( This Free People dress) It seems like a pattern with me lately haha. In an almost psychic fashion, I end up buying similar pieces that I receive in near future Stitch Fix’s.
If you need a similar dress I highly recommend both the Stitch Fix version (and mine). You may request this one from Stitch Fix. If they have it in stock, Stitch Fix usually accommodates requests.

Loveappella flutter sleeve top is shown with jeans, and with a mini on the Stitch Fix styling card. In the below outfit I’ll show you three pieces I received in my August Stitch Fix box including this top.
Loveappella Delena Flutter Sleeve Knit Top ($54)
My first impression of the Flutter sleeve knit top was great because ladies I love stripes, all kinds of it. The sleeve part I wasn’t as sure of. The fit is good, the top has a tight fit without being restraining. The clutch I used in this outfit is also from Stitch Fix.

Style Tip: I wanted to make a casual outfit with the striped top, destroyed grey skinny jeans, some fun accessories and my new studded flats. (Ladies these flats seriously rock!!! If you can find your size get them; like right now! I have them both in this patent red, and animal print) I find the classic combination of red shoes and navy/black stripes charming.
As I styled my hair in a top knot, I chose drop earrings from Wantable ( see them in this review) as my main accessory. I also used the PopBasic knot bracelet in sparkly grey rope design.
Status – Flutter Sleeve Top- Sent back
I did choose to send back the top. Not only do I have MANY similar striped tops ( see one in this post) I was not sure of the flutter sleeves even after I put the top on. I felt like the flutters made my shoulders look disproportioned. I thought if I had gotten this top during or, after my pregnancies, I would have probably loved it tough. It is great if you want to conceal the top part of your arms. Overall a beautifully made top.
Urban Expressions Fifi Floral Clutch ($28)
I asked for a fun, colorful clutch and my stylist sent me this beauty. It is a great size, has shoulder straps, and the price can’t be beat for such a versatile piece. See other versions of Urban Expressions clutches here. I have more than three of these, and love the functional but cute pieces the brand makes.
I think I don’t need to say it. I of course kept my floral clutch. <3
Stitch Fix styled the Skies are Blue perforated cardigan with jeans as well as over a dress. I love both versions.
Skies are Blue Kimmy Perforated Detail Cardigan ($68)
I just threw the cardigan over my striped top outfit, and loved the look more like this. The fit of the cardigan is lovely. It is not too short or too long, and has just the right amount of give. I must also mention that the cardigan is so cozy.
A close-up of my T-strap studded flats. Color me impressed. 🙂

Status: Sent back
I already mailed my Stitch Fix non-keepers back. This cardigan is my only regret. I thought I had a couple similar styles at home but after sending it back, I still think about it LOL. If you receive this in a future Stitch Fix don’t let it go ladies. The thickness of the fabric, and the fit is really spot on on this one.

Overall Impressions: I say it every month, and it seems like I’ll say it for a long time- Stitch Fix is the highlight of my mail each month. I enjoyed SF # 28 just like I enjoyed all the boxes I received prior to it. I highly recommend you give Stitch Fix a try to see what you think of the service. I think the $20 styling fee, that is completely applicable to your purchases, is surely worth the try. You’ll have a lot of fun trying everything on. <3
