As we are more than halfway into summer, I wanted to update you ladies on the outdoor fitness goals I talked about in the earlier months of the season. I also want to share a lovely sandwich lunch I’ve been eating that is healthy as much as it’s delicious, and point all you food lovers towards a super fun contest from Foster Farms. Ladies, August can be tough. It is usually when I start to take stock of how my summer fitness efforts have been fairing so far. It is also usually a time to realize that I’ve tried one too many delectable tastes on our trips, and devoured more deserts than I want to admit on our many restaurant discoveries.

If you’ve gone back, and read the rest of my fitness section, you’ll see this was the case last year as well LOL. Although I am pretty consistent with exercise throughout the year, it seems like during the warmer months, I am much less disciplined with my eating. When it’s nicer outside, and long evenings on the patios of my favorite places become an option, my discipline goes out of the window a bit.


Luckily there is a solution for balancing out my summer food indulgence haha and it involves increasing my outdoors running & walking times, which I’ve been doing the last weeks. Instead of my usual hour, I try to exercise a total of 1.5 hrs, at least four times a week. I also make an effort to stick to a more nutritious, and sensible diet with healthy but still yummy meals.


I want to share with you, and invite you to try, my latest favorite lunch. It’s a Turkey sandwich that is as appetizing as it looks made with Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey. It has been a regular at our home lately and the whole family loves it. It is very easy to make but the taste is anything but basic.

▪ Organic 7 Grain Sandwich Bread
▪ Juiciest Tomatoes you can find- These red medium ones are so full of flavor
▪ Slices of Iceberg Lettuce – I love the crunchiness it adds
▪ 3 slices of Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey (only 60 cals)
▪ Drizzle of Basil Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil

I start my sandwich with my favorite 7 grain sandwich bread. First layer is three slices of flavorful tomatoes. Medium to smaller ones are the best; usually the redder the juicier in my experience. Next step is adding three slices of folded Foster Farms All Natural Sliced Turkey.

These are the best. They are all natural with no added chemicals, and preservatives. The Turkey is raised without hormones or steroids, and has 35% less sodium. Being 98% fat free the three slices are only 60 calories. Yayyy!! 🙂 I drizzle basil infused EVOOL on the slices, and top my sandwich off with pieces of Iceberg lettuce as well as another layer of tomatoes. The result is a super healthy AND mouth-watering lunch.

    Yummy sandwich! I have never tried olive oil with basil. It sounds really good. I usually spread some mayonese im my sandwich which may not be the healtiest choice. Oh, let’s not forget cheese.

    Your sandwich looks delicious. I usually add avocado to my sandwiches and skip the mayo. Fresh herbs are delicious on sandwiches too.

    Love sandwiches. Since I’m a veg I’d substitute the turkey for some avocado, and I love the idea of basil infused olive oil with it. I have some from Little Lace Box, I think yours is as well? I will definitely check out Foster Farms for hubby.

      Yes I have the Little Lace Box Basil infused olive oil from my LLB too and I LOVE it! 🙂 My mom is a vegetarian as well so I learned a lot of healthy tricks from her if I want to make super yummy just veggie sandwiches. 🙂 I was really happy with this Foster Farms turkey for a healthy quick and easy lunch option over the summer.
