A new Year, A New Beginning. I am happy that the first post of 2016 here on TheBoxQueen is my Stitch Fix January 2016 Review. My Stitch Fix Reviews were one of my most read & popular posts in 2015. I am looking forward to bring you many more of the detailed reviews you tell me you enjoy.  <3

The first Stitch Fix of 2016 also marks my 34th box from the company.  As I said before, I feel like such a Stitch Fix veteran now.  Below you can find my previous reviews, and some key posts that have important information on how to get your best Stitch Fix, how I choose my keeper pieces, and Stitch Fix Remix where I re-style my kept pieces. Also find my Pinterest Stitch Fix Board here. I update it often with my SF outfits, and favorite new SF items.

As a quick recap, Stitch Fix is one of my very favorite (and I mean it ladies, do I need to say more? Stitch Fix #34 haha) personal styling services. You go to Stitch Fix Website, fill out a detailed style profile with ALL your style preferences (you can even connect your social media such as a Pinterest Style Board) and for a $20 styling fee that’s completely applicable to your purchases as credit, you order a Stitch Fix box.

In Your Note to your Stitch Fix Stylist, you get to request all clothing pieces, or you can ask for accessories such as jewelry and handbags. There are even petite, and maternity options available now.

If you are new to TheBoxQueen, you can find MUCH MORE detail, and so many examples of the brands/pieces Stitch Fix sends in TheBoxQueen Stitch Fix Category.

Here are some Stitch Fix Review Highlights:

The past couple months I’ve been loving how we can add notes to our Stitch Fix  Stylists, and for my January box, I asked for cold weather pieces. The NW is getting exceedingly chilly. Actually today we were stuck for a while in a snow storm. Living on the hills, and in a city that doesn’t get much snow, we are the first ones that get stranded the moment snow holds. No one is really prepared for it here in the NW. I at least want to dress for the cold haha.

First up is a fitted, cowl turtleneck cable knit sweater. Stitch Fix styled it with jeans, and a skirt for casual/dressed up options.

Mak Paula Cable Knit Cowl Neck Sweater ($68)

This sweater is really lovely. It has a wonderful fit, a trendy cowl/turtleneck neckline, and the color goes with everything. As the sweater is fitted, and on the shorter side, it is easy to pair with skirts as well as skinny jeans. I chose to wear mine with these wardrobe staple jeans. (on sale for $39.50 right now)

Style Tip: Cable Knit Sweaters, especially when they are fitted, are perfect pieces to wear with flattering skinnies. (A cable sweater I have and love on sale) I like to make my casual jeans looks a bit more dressed up with pumps. Pumps make your legs look longer, help your proportions look more balanced, and give your steps elegance. LOVE THEM!

To add a little liveliness to my outfit, I chose floral pumps, (a great alternative here) and chose a Kate Spade bag (love this Kate Spade bag too) that is in the same blue that’s also a part of the shoes.

I chose a beautiful, designer pendant necklace from Rocksbox to give some shine to my outfit. (You too can get a FREE Month of the jewelry service here with CODE: theboxqueenxoxo ) Also find some more turtleneck styles I like below. (The pics are clickable)

I stocked up on cable sweaters with two colors of this one.  I thought it would be a bit excessive to keep the Stitch Fix version too. I did love the Mak brand, and would recommend you request this piece from SF if you like cable sweaters.

Stitch Fix styling cards show the burgundy faux leather jacket over a dress for a fancy outfit, and is also seen paired with jeans.

RD Style Rhonda Faux Leather Jacket ($78)

I’ve been asking my stylist for another Faux Leather Jacket since I kept this one (now on sale) from a previous Stitch Fix. I loved and wore it so much that I know I had to have another faux leather jacket. Where I live it rains so much. Vegan leather has the trendy look I love so much, and it doesn’t get damaged easily.

Style Tip: Up until now my dear stylist tried to find me the next best jacket by sending me many beautiful options. This burgundy one came in this Stitch Fix. I love the jacket over a dress however I wanted to make the look day appropriate. I wore it over my Modcloth striped dress, and used red accessories. I think burgundy and bright red really complement each other. ( These shoes, and this bag are among my best purchases.)

Status – Kept

The first second I got this jacket out of my Stitch Fix box I knew I would keep it. I adored the burgundy color, and the fitted style. I also like that I can use the jacket completely zipped up or with collars on the side. It’s a definite keeper!

Style Tip: As I wore the jacket completely zipped up, I only added these drop earrings in the prettiest green shade. I think green, burgundy, and red are a great trio. The navy stripes in the dress also look cute with the rest of the three colors of the outfit. The earrings came in my latest Rocksbox (get a FREE month with Code: theboxqueenxoxo)

See how to re-create this look below with some options.

I got this puffer jacket that Stitch Fix styled with two different types of pants.

Andrew Marc Loksa Down Puffer Coat ($118)

In my note to my stylist, I mentioned that I was in need of a warm puffer coat. I like that puffer coats can be super casual but that they can also be dressed up with high heels. She sent me this white Andrew Marc down puffer coat that I styled with legging pants that also came in this very January 2016 box. ( See the exact coat in other colors)

Status – Sent Back ( Puffer Coat & Leggings)

I forgot to add in my notes to Ishara that NW is super rainy and any puffer coat I’ll keep has to have a hood. It’s completely on me that she sent me one without, and I must admit this white one is a charmer. It wasn’t easy to send it back.

I sent back the legging pants too. They bunched up around the knees and around my calves. They were not fitted enough on me.

On a more fun note, my husband and kids heard so much about me looking for a puffer that they bought me a Michael Kors one in navy, almost identical to this one as one of my holiday gifts. Yay! I’ve worn it so much even in this past week.

In my January Stitch Fix  I also found these skinny pants that you can easily dress up or down with accessory, and shoe changes.

Liverpool Reagan Skinny Pant ($88)

I thought the puffer jacket worn over one of my Golden Tote surprise tops with these skinny pants made a nice everyday look. I elevated the look a bit with the plaid pumps, and my Wantable accessories including drop earrings, and a couple rings.

Top: Golden Tote | Puffer Coat: Stitch Fix ( Same Marc New York in Brown) | Pants: Stitch Fix (same one different color) | Pumps: Charles by Charles David  | Jewelry: Wantable (See all Reviews Here)

My last piece in the January 2016 Stitch Fix box was the Skies are Blue cardigan jacket. Stitch Fix styled it with pants and also over a beautiful dress.

Skies Are Blue Lewis Collared Cardigan ($78)

Style Tip: I like the idea of pairing this cardigan jacket with a dress too. I thought the casual Southwestern print would look better with a a bit more laid-back shoe style such as these black booties with side buckles. (see this option, same brand) When choosing booties to wear with dresses, make sure they hit your leg at a flattering angle. You don’t want the booties to be at an awkward length. I added color with my trusted orange Hamilton.

Jacket: Stitch Fix | Dress: PopBasic  (See in this Review) Similar | Bag: Michael Kors | Boots: DV by Dolce Vita old (Same Brand Similar) Sunglasses: Marc by Marc Jacobs  | Jewelry: Wantable  (Reviews Here)

Status – Sent Back

The amount of Southwestern type prints I have in my closet is way too many. I sent the Stitch Fix cardigan jacket back however I certainly liked the style, and the quality.

Overall Impressions: My Stitch Fix #34 was a wonderful start to a new year sure to be filled with many Stitch Fix pieces. It’s also a special Stitch Fix, as after a couple “almost keeper jackets” from previous months, I finally found a new faux leather jacket (perfect for wet NW weather) that I am keeping. The versatile neckline, and the gorgeous burgundy color are the details I loved.

As I am moving on to my Stitch Fix #35, I can wholeheartedly recommend the service. It’s fun, definitely worth the $20 to try. (which is a full credit towards your purchases) It’s lovely to build a relationship with your stylist via notes, and feedback so she gets your style taste, and needs. It’s a fact ladies; I LOVE myself some Stitch Fix. 🙂

  • You certainly kept the right item!

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Amy. I really love it. Happy weekend! XOXO, Elif

  • Talba1

Big thumbs-up for the burgundy faux leather jacket. The color is beautiful. I have been looking for a similar leather jacket a while now. Great choice. I also liked the down coat. But agree with you on having to need a hood in the nw.

    • Theboxqueen

Your puffy coat with the hood really inspired me. I liked this one too but I really need that hood haha. I was so happy to see my oldest and hubby listened and bought me one as a surprise. The burgundy jacket just rocks. I kept asking for more faux leather jackets from SF and finally hit the jackpot with this one. 🙂 Happy Saturday dear. XOXO, Elif

  • Wow so many great pieces!! Live that cowl nexk sweater and that puffer jacket (too bad it doesn’t have a hood…)!

    cute & little

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Kileen! It was such a great mix of pieces that I couldn’t choose which to try on when I got the box 🙂 Wish the puffer did have a hood but I am in love with the burgundy jacket I kept. Happy Weekend! XOXO, Elif

  • Cheryl

The faux leather jacket is a great keeper. I know what you mean about a need for cold weather pieces- our temps are getting so cold that I need to make the same note for my next fix!

    • Theboxqueen

Cheryl I think noting down the climate works wonders for the practicality of the pieces they send. If I didn’t mention the cold I think I would keep getting short sleeves I unfortunately can’t enjoy right now. Love the note to stylist option. Hope you had a lovely week dear. XOXO, Elif

  • Aw… this is where all the beautiful outfits I’ve seen on your Instagram lately come from.
Such a shame you didn’t keep the last knitted jacket – I really loved the print 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

Yup this months Stitch Fix brought these beauties. I am so happy with my keeper burgundy jacket but your comments made me think again about that knitted jacket. Wish I didn’t have this type of Southwestern print so much in my closet and it could have been a keeper. 🙂 Happy Saturday lovely. XOXO, Elif

  • nuray

Once again a great review and outfit ideas Elif. I am a fan of all your reviews. Your Stitch Fix styling is always on point. I wish that winter white puffer coat had a hood.

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks so much for the support! It always makes my day to hear that my reviews are enjoyed. And I wish the white puffer had a hood too. 🙂 Happy Monday. XOXO, Elif

  • The Pink Envelope

Very cute! I love the Andrew Marc Loksa Down Puffer Coat and the Mak Paula Cable Knit Cowl Neck Sweater

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks so much! Those were really strong contenders too. Happy Weekend!! XOXO, Elif

  • Everything looks adorable on you as usual, but I love the cable knit sweater the most. I’ll definitely add the Mak brand to my wish list for my next box (at the end of this month just in time for February).

Do you know if there’s a way to send a message to your stylist after you’ve already checked out?

Also, how in the WORLD do you get all of those photos in such cute scenes AND change clothes??

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks dear you are so sweet! 🙂 I do recommend the Mak sweater, it had a really nice fit.
You can send a note to your stylist before a new fix too. Usually Stitch Fix sends a message saying your SF is about to be styled each time and remind you that you can leave a note by going to your account. If you mean after this note period ends, I would think customer service could help giving your message over to your stylist before they mail your box.
Haha I don’t do the photos necessarily on the same day, I do some in the mornings some afternoons on the same day or on back to back days. 🙂 One of my last fashion posts I had to do all at home, my porch, and garden as it was all ice outside. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend! XOXO, Elif

      • Gotcha! I’ll be on the lookout for that email. My next fix is in about 2 weeks. We’ll see if I can get outside this time. For me it’s hard because my son works and my S.O. works on Saturdays. His schedule just changed, so he’ll be off the last two weekends this month, FINALLY!

        • Theboxqueen

Looking forward to see your next SF. Hopefully you’ll get some outside pictures but I think even without them, seeing the pieces everyone gets with indoor pics is still so fun 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • Sibel Gultekin

I completely agree with your decision. The white sweater looks very neat and elegant. Your jacket on the other hand looks edgy and very hip. Leather pieces used to be a regular for me, but as time passed I started preferring faux leather and cloth jackets. (Shoes and bags differ! They are must haves for me still!)

    • Theboxqueen

That is exactly where I am at right now too. Especially in this wet weather faux leather jackets are so practical and they hold up better. Have a great day lovely. XOXO, Elif
