Today, after about 3 days of being stuck at home due to snow, the ice finally seemed to have melted and I was able to drop off my kids to school. For Wantable Style Edit Review January 2016, I originally planned a lot of fun photo shoots in beautiful settings. Whenever I can, I enjoy to get to nice locations in my city to take pictures. Of course in the true nature of life, things don’t always go as planned. It turned out that here in the NW we are not ready for snow & ice so my plans had to be changed. Hello again my front porch and garden haha.

On to first Wantable Style edit of 2016. In my January Style Edit box, I received a healthy mix of winter appropriate pieces. I was pleased to see that my stylist listened to my requests I noted after I received mostly warm weather items in October Style Edit. (which btw was a fab box for someone living in sunnier states like CA)

Wantable also has other subscription boxes available such as accessories, makeup, and intimates as well as Fitness Edit, a similar service to Style Edit. Find all the information you need on each, and find my previous reviews in the Wantable section here.

My Previous Style Edit Reviews

In January Style Edit, I received three sweaters, a plaid shirt, and a pair of skinny jeans. Below you’ll find the outfits I made with the pieces I got. At the time of the review I haven’t made any decisions on what I would do with each item. I am curious to hear how you like them, and your thoughts!

IMG_7412Nora Cargo Plaid Shirt ($78)

My love for plaid is not a secret. (See how I styled Plaid in Three Ways Here) I have quite a large collection of plaid shirts, scarves, cardigans, and even pumps. 🙂 ( See how I recently wore my plaid pumps with a white puffer coat)

The Nora Cargo Plaid Shirt ( found here) is a great example of a plaid piece. The mix of patterns on the arms & the color combination are on trend, and fresh. The shirt is a lovely update to a timeless style.

Henry & Belle Lila Super Skinny Jeans ($149)

I always say. I like to get introduced to “new to me brands” via both Style and Fitness Edits. Henry & Belle is such a label. I thought these skinnies paired quite nicely with the Nora Cargo Plaid Shirt.

Style Tip: Plaid shirts are usually thought as casual pieces however I absolutely love them in fancier looks. (see how I styled my plaid shirt with a faux leather skirt here.) You can also elevate a plaid shirt, and jeans outfit with glam accessories such as my grey suede pointy pumps, and metallic clutch for a chic day outfit. (This clutch I love is on sale for $11!!! )

Shirt: Wantable (Nora Cargo Plaid Shirt) | Jeans: Wantable (Henry &Belle Skinnies) | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Jewelry: Wantable | Sunglasses: Armani- old (A great option I love) Clutch: Urban Expressions – old ( A cute clutch only $11)

BCBG Generation Sheer Turtleneck Sweater ($78)

The third piece out of my January Wantable Style Edit  was this fitted, winter white turtleneck sweater. (On major sale now) It has a pretty, sheer knit panel across the arms, upper chest & the back.

Close up of the sheer knit around the arms, and the chest.

Style Tip: I wore the Sheer Turtleneck sweater (on major sale) with the included Super Skinny Jeans so I can show them to you one more time. For this day look, I chose white and blue floral pumps, a contrasting red bag, and simple accessories.

I think the Sheer Turtleneck Sweater  would look AMAZING with a skirt, especially a cute skater style ( Like this skirt I have in burgundy) paired with booties.

Jack Kath Sweater ($80)

The second sweater I received is this classic on the front, original in the back BB Dakota piece.  It has a relaxed fit without being boxy.

Style Tip: I like how navy and grey compliment each other. At first glance the sweater is a classic style, and pattern so I wanted to give it a bit edge with ripped jeans. I also think yellow makes a good third color addition to this color palette. I wore my Wantable necklace, and this Loren Hope bracelet to give some sparkle to the outfit.

Sweater: Wantable (Jack Kath Sweater ) | Jeans: Free People (This season’s version) | Bag: Stitch Fix (see it in this review) | Necklace: Wantable | Bracelet: Loren Hope | Boots: Great off white bootie option

I really like the back detail. The opening is not too big to reveal much but is just enough to give some originality to the Jack Kath Sweater.

BB Dakota Colby Boyfriend Sweater ($88)

The BB Dakota Colby Sweater (see it in this color and a gorgeous blue) is that everyday sweater that you would throw on a million times a month. It’s warm, and comes in a good length to wear over leggings.  (translation: it covers your bottom; at least on people around 5 4 to 5 5′ which is how tall I am)

Got not one bad thing to say about this staple item. It’s not the most exciting piece you can find but probably it would be worn more than those statement items we all crave haha. ( I am looking at you burgundy lace dress. I seriously have a thing for all fitted lace dresses)

Style Tip: I wear outfits like this one all the time. Hunter boots (found here almost 50% off) are a must for the NW where it feels like it rains non stop. I put together various tunics and longer sweaters with leggings, pick one accessory that sets the look apart from my home loungewear ( I wear leggings at home too) like this Kendra Scott necklace, and feel more put together immediately. This is my choice of outfit for grabbing a cup of coffee from our neighborhood Starbucks, picking up the kids from school or leisurely walking our dog.

Overall Impressions: I give a huge thumbs up to my Wantable StyleEdit stylist for listening to my needs in terms of sending me winter appropriate pieces. The brands are all high quality, and they are those everyday pieces that you can fancy up easily. (which is what I like to do for my everyday outfits. I like to wear casual looks in glammed up versions)

Have you received Wantable StyleEdit lately? Any keeper pieces you would like to share? Have your boxes improved over time like mine? I would love to hear it all ladies.

The plaid shirt, sheer sweater and the jeans. I liked the detailing of the striped sweater. If you have too many plaid shirts then I would go with the jeans and sheer white sweater.

    • Theboxqueen

Ahhh all such great options right? 🙂 I do have a LOT of plaid shirts but this one is a great choice for everyone looking for a plaid shirt. XOXO, Elif

  • The jeans and the boyfriend sweater especially look amazing on you. Those would be my picks. I haven’t tried Wantable Style Edit yet but am tempted to!

    • Theboxqueen

Lauren give them a try at least once. I think it took me about three boxes to get it the way I like but I enjoy the fact that all pieces are current, in season pieces for the most part. I loved this winter box for sure. 🙂 Always lovely to chat with you! XOXO, Elif

Great items! I have the striped sweater from my own Edit. I really love the turtleneck- such pretty details and can be dressed up or down.

    • Theboxqueen

Ahhh you kept the striped sweater from Style Edit? It really is a great piece, and I love the peek a boo back. :-)) The turtleneck had a skin tight fit but it was surprisingly comfy at the same time. Hope you are having a fab week dear. XOXO, Elif

Wearing stripes can be a risky choice, looking very bulky on some people. But I like risky choise. I think that the striped sweater has the opposite affect on you and is the definite piece to keep. The BCBG Generation top looks simple, elegant, and classic. I personally am not a fan of plaid flannels, but that is a personal choice. (I do know that everybody at my daughter’s school wears flannels all the time though)

    • Theboxqueen

Haha I am starting to think your daughter and I have so much in common. The Little Lace Box gloves, and our love of plaid :-)) Give my hugs and kisses to her. This stripes sweater was loose without being bulky & boxy- a definite plus. XOXO, Elif

  • Nice selection of clothing items. Looks like your stylist had a great idea of your wants and needs for winter and some good selections for you!

    • Theboxqueen

She really did. Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! XOXO, Elif
