Ladies, I am so excited for Friday February 5th. What happens on that day? A date evening has been planned, and it’s been put on the calendar. A huge yayyy!!! If you’ve noticed, I am saying date evening as I can’t really say date night. We drop the kids off at our gym club’s “parent night out” around 5 and pick them up approximately at 9 haha. I am not complaining
in the least bit. It has been ridiculously long since we’ve been alone on a date with my husband so I’ll take whatever I can.

There is more to my excitement though. I was able to convince my husband to see the new romantic movie ‘The Choice,’ based on the best-selling book by Nicholas Sparks. (Which I of course read, and finished in a little more than 1 day!)

IMG_8126 See I am a romantic at heart. I am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks, and have read all his books, and saw all the movie adaptations.. It’s such a thrilling feeling to see one of your beloved books on the big screen, and discover whether events come to life like you imagined.

Watching a romantic movie is one of my favorite ways to spend date night. Almost always, following the movies, we reminisce about memorable events that have happened in our lives since we got together many many years ago.

IMG_8100A very significant takeaway of the story in  The Choice, is how we sometimes make difficult choices of the heart to find our destiny and perfect match. Each couple has to make certain choices throughout their relationship that feels difficult for them.

My husband and I met in college when we were 19. Although the events of how we met were not the same as they’ll be in the story, the dynamic was similar.  When I finished college one year earlier than him, ( I started elementary school earlier than kids my age) I was faced with the challenge of going overseas for graduate school alone or to wait for a year so we could go together.

IMG_8145The difficult part was that in that one year I couldn’t do much because none of the serious jobs I interviewed for would hire me knowing I would leave soon. I listened to my gut instinct, and decided to stay that year to wait for him. Luckily, the next year he got accepted too, and we went to graduate school together. It turned out to be THE CHOICE of my life.

I don’t want to give away too much about the story of the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice, however I’ll say this: I loved that the main characters came together due to an encounter between their dogs. The pets play an important role in the story and I of course adored that. (You may know by now how much I LOVE our dog Emma.)

What’s more, like in many other Nicholas Sparks stories, the story is set in coastal North Carolina. Although we’ve traveled to many parts of US, we’ve never been to the southern states. I really enjoy learning about the area, and look forward to watching all the beautiful settings we’ll no doubt see in the movie.

Ladies did you make any decisions that were difficult for you in your relationship? Do you have plans to watch the new Nicholas Sparks movie, The Choice? Don’t miss it when it hits theaters February 5th!

I enjoyed hearing your story as a young couple. This book was on my list of books to read. The movie sounds very intriguing too.

    • Theboxqueen

Read the book, it’s good and made me think of all the choices we all make. 🙂 So happy you enjoyed reading my choice. <3 Have a lovely Thursday. XOXO, Elif

  • Not familiar with the author – probably not as popular in Europe, but you both are such a pretty couple. You’re looking great! xx

Have you seen the movie The NoteBook? The writer is the author of that book. (I watched that movie at least 4 times haha) Thanks so much love, always so kind. Happy Monday! XOXO, Elif

  • Cheryl

Thanks for sharing your sweet story, you are such a lovely couple. 🙂 I’m definitely a Nicholas Sparks fan. I haven’t read the book yet, but the movie looks really good. Should I read the book first before seeing the film?

    • Theboxqueen

Cheryl that’s so sweet of you to say. <3 I would read the book first and see the movie. I always love to read first so I am not spoiled of the events, and can have my imaginary world before I see it come live on the big screen. The movie is coming up very soon so definitely recommend that book :-)) Happy Tuesday lovely. XOXO, Elif

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I were planning to have a lunch date. At the door of the cafe, we got an email from school informing us that my little one was sick. The ride to his school definitely made my day.:)
