As the seasons change and my outfits get lighter, and brighter, I like to change my makeup too. I realize that one of the most important things for a good makeup application is a clear canvas which in this case is a sparkling face with pores that look tight and tiny.
I’ll share with you today three ways to minimize the appearance of pores. I’ll also show you my pastel color lilac eye make up look that’s perfect for spring & summer.
1) Keep Your Pores Clean & Clear With A Cleanser Designed For This Purpose
Pores that are free of dirt, and trapped impurities appear to be smaller. Washing your face in the morning, and remembering to take off your make up at night goes a long way. Using a cleanser that has ingredients to draw out the dirt and oil that clog your pores help a lot.
I recently got to try Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. It is a fab product if your pores are concerning you. Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser deep cleans 2 times better than a basic cleanser. It’s also so fun to use as the cleanser pumps black, lathers white, and rinses clean.
2) Exfoliate Your Face After Your Cleanser
After you cleaned your face with a pore clarifying cleanser, it’s time to exfoliate. Exfoliation gets rid of dead skin cells, and smoothes the skin leaving your pores looking tinier. For me exfoliation is a relaxing ritual as I feel like it lets my skin breathe while making it bright, and shiny.
After trying the Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser, I followed up with Bioré Charcoal Pore Minimizer. (See how it looks on my face below & on my palm right out of the bottle above. )
This is a pretty cool product. Natural Charcoal is known for its ability to draw out impurities. The gently exfoliator works instantly ( which I was pretty impressed by when I tried it) and you can actually see & feel your skin smooth out & look healthy. Even my husband commented that my face looked very bright & clear.
3) Use Sunscreen Daily
My dermatologist told me years ago that when the skin is exposed to too much sun, the skin gets thinner and the collagen is damaged. This results in bigger pores. In the long term, besides its obvious health prevention benefits, sunscreen also helps keep your pores smaller. I made sure to follow with my favorite moisturizer, and applied a separate sunscreen on top of that.
After I prepared my canvas, I created a pastel, layered eye look with lilac & purple hues. For this look I applied a concealer on my eyelids. I followed with a highlighter under my eyebrows.
I applied lighter purple color all over the bottom half part of my eyelid. I used a slightly darker purple over my crease. I made sure to apply a lengthening mascara, and also lined my eyes with a brown pencil which I think pairs nicely with watercolors & pastels.
I swiped a bit of bronzing powder all over my face, and chose a pink lip color to go with the pastel eyes. Ta daaa, I got a quick and easy spring day look. <3
