Do you see the beautiful blooms in my garden? Although it is only mid-April, the gorgeous flowers, uncharacteristically sunny NW spring, all the swimwear, and cute dresses at the stores definitely put me in summer mood. I’ve been slowly adjusting my body, skin, and beauty routines to the changing seasons the last couple months.
1) Adding a Few Trends To My Closet That Match My Style
A great fun way to update your look is by adding new pieces to your wardrobe, and incorporating current trends into your outfits. My rule with trends is to pick and choose the ones that match who I am and my style sense. I like the way I dress to make me feel even more confident, and ready to take on my day.
For instance, lately I’ve added this off the shoulder, tight fitting top to my closet. It hits two trends, off the shoulder & bodysuit style. (although not really a bodysuit it’s so close in fit) The top instantly updates the white skinny jeans.
2) Making An Effort To Keep My Hair Hydrated
My hair can get dry easily if I don’t take good care of it; especially with the heat I apply to it when curling, and straightening for various hairstyles. Summer is especially tough as on top of the styling damage, comes chlorine from the pools, and salt water from the beach. I need to make an effort to keep my hair extra hydrated during the warmer months.
One way you can hydrate your hair is with Garnier® Whole Blends™ Hydrating Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hydrating Mask. I’ve been using the Hydrating line with Coconut Water & Vanilla Milk extracts for the past week, and so far I am quite impressed. My hair feels deeply moisturized, and very soft to the touch. I also found the tropical fragrance incredibly pleasant, and beautiful. When you smell the product in the bottle, the scent is gorgeous, and I think on actual hair it’s even better.
I love that Garnier® Whole Blends™ makes paraben-free products, packaged in recyclable PET plastic containers, made in facilities committed to sustainability & reducing waste. Of course the best part is that the products are amazing; formulated with nourishing ingredients. Continuing to take good care of my hair in the summer months makes me feel like I continue to make an effort to take care of myself.
3) Changing Up My MakeUp Routine by Trying New Colors
If you’ve been TheBoxQueen reader for a while, and especially if you’ve been following my style posts, you may know that I use a lot of color in my outfits. It almost comes easy to me to incorporate various hues in one look.
When it comes to makeup tough, I feel like I could be much more adventurous. I seem to mostly go for neutral eye makeup with brown tones. I’ve been adding a lot more color to my makeup routine. I started using purples, pinks, and blues on my eyes and so far I’ve been loving the change.
4) Slowing Down A Bit For Much Needed Rest
Summer means lots of siesta time in many countries, and I am taking that lead to give myself a bit of a rest now and then in the warmer months. I feel like I was extra hard on myself taking on so much this year. In summer, I need to re-energize, recharge, and make the health of my body & wellness a priority.
5) Using SPF Regularly
I have to have this as an ongoing goal as I can easily forget to apply SPF in the morning rush of my household, and I also sometimes forget to apply it later in the day. I tend to get sun spots on my face pretty easily if I forget to use SPF. Also with the health concerns that come with the rays of sun, I know I need SPF on my body as well. (especially considering all the shorts, and dresses I’ll wear in summer)
