Tomorrow is Mother’s Day! Mother’s Day has double special meaning for me. (although I certainly think Moms should be celebrated every single day :-)) I love getting handmade gifts, and cards from my kids, but I also enjoy showing appreciation to one of the most important women in my life – My Mom.
Mother’s Day can sometimes be bittersweet though as my mom and dad live overseas, and I rarely get to spend the day in person with my mom. (Although we talk on Skype almost every
single day for hrs. ) I still try my best to find ways to make it extra special for her.
Above is a photo from one of the Mother’s Days we actually got to spend together when she was visiting about five years ago. I remember being so tired (you can see it in my eyes haha) as I was still nursing my youngest, and I would wake up several times every night. My mom encouraged me to dress up, and go out for lunch. I still treasure this day; our conversation was lovely as usual. The lunch was also a great reminder to take care of myself once in a while, and the food was just delicious. <3
For all of you with Moms living far away, virtual gift cards to online stores that have international shipping make wonderful gifts for moms that live far away like mine. I know some of my friends, who have moms living in various countries over the world, use Paypal’s Xoom to send their moms $ for Moms day. You can send cash to more than 40 countries via Xoom. Actually I learned that the number one recipient of this service is Moms.
Xoom is the only remittances company that offers instant disbursements. You get to select multiple ways for loved ones to receive money including bank transfers, cash pick-up or delivery, bill pay and mobile reload.
On Mother’s Day with my family, we traditionally do brunch at a surprise location. It’s usually either at a new place my husband researched & discovered, or at one of my usual favorite breakfast restaurants.
STYLE TIP: For this Mother’s Day I chose this Wrap Front Maxi Dress, and my Wedge Heels ( ON SALE!). I wanted to have a dress that was flowy, and unrestricting, but I wanted it to make enough of a statement. This Wrap Front Maxi was just what I was looking for. It was long, and feminine & it made a statement with its beautiful print. There also was an air of casualness to it with the pockets & soft fabric.
STYLE TIP: When it comes to accessories & shoes, I’ll start the outfit with my brown Wedges. These have been one of the most worn additions to my spring/summer wardrobe. They literally go with everything. I also love that I don’t get tired wearing them hours at a time.
This little shoulder bag, and a pair of nice sunglasses will complete my look along with a statement necklace.
It’s not too late to send your loved ones a Mother’s Day Gift Card. Paypal is offering Mother’s Day shopping deals from merchants like Macy’s and Kiehls. You can check out all these offers here.
