The day has come! May Stitch Fix marks the 40th box I received from this fun personal styling service I am a huge fan of. With this new milestone, I was lucky to get an amazing box. It was almost as if my lovely stylist wanted to celebrate with me. She completely gets my style, and each month I am having a difficult time choosing what to keep. (Which is ironically a GREAT thing haha)

If you’ve recently discovered TheBoxQueen, and my Stitch Fix Reviews, I encourage you to start your reading from the beginning. I’ve been reviewing Stitch Fix the past couple of years, and have enjoyed virtually meeting many lovely readers through our shared love & excitement for Stitch Fix. You’ll find all the info you need on how the service works as well as my style tips. I am highlighting some key & recent posts below. Here we go with Stitch Fix Review May 2016.

STITCH FIX REVIEW MAY 2016

STITCH FIX HIGHLIGHTS

Getting Your Best SF Tip: For my May Stitch Fix, I requested off the shoulder styles, colorful summer pieces, and a fab pair of heels. If you are not connecting with your stylist via “Notes to Your Stylist”, you are seriously missing out ladies. I recommend that you remind your requests to your stylist each month through this feature. In my opinion it works as a handy reminder of your style needs/ and wants.

Getting Spoilers on your upcoming SF Box: After you receive the email that your Stitch Fix shipped, you can go and sign in your account. You then click the “Checkout” button to get spoilers.

In this box, I received two gorgeous dresses, two tops, and bright yellow heels. What a pleasant surprise it was to open my May box!! I am still undecided on which one(s) of the three pieces to keep from my favorites.

Collective Concepts Joliee Embroidered Dress ($84)

I got this dress out of the box first. It’s by Collective Concepts, a brand I have many pieces from in my closet. I adore the cheerful print, and the beautiful color mix. This dress is one of the three pieces I am considering keeping.

Style Tip: This dress does not need many extra embellishments, I thought it made a statement on its own. I paired it with the gorgeous yellow pumps that also came in my May Stitch Fix. I added the Kendra Scott drop earrings I got in my latest RocksBox (Get your FREE Month here with CODE: theboxqueenxoxo ), this bangle bracelet, and a delicate lace cut-out shoulder bag. I wanted to keep the look girly, and cheerful.

Nine West Xeena Pointed Toe Pump ($79)

I have plans to buy a pair of yellow shoes for this summer so I was pretty excited to see these beauties in my Stitch Fix Box. It’s one of the three pieces I love and that I am deciding on. ( I found the exact pair here.) I think I rather have yellow sandals for the warm months; however the pumps are super hard to resist. They are adorable! <3

Fun2Fun Mina Split Neck Blouse ($38)

This top is a great basic, and the print made it a bit more interesting with the eye catching colors. For some reason, it reminded me the Renee C top I got in my latest Golden Tote. (See the review here)

Style Tip: I love the orange tones in the tank, and thought it would make a nice casual, daytime outfit matched with my burnt orange shorts. I highly recommend LOFT’s shorts btw. Every year I buy a couple new shorts from the brand, of the same style. So far they stood the test of time besides being one of my most reached for summer items.

I wore a wide bracelet, and mini drop earrings to add some shine to my look. These wedges go with EVERYTHING! Plus they really balance out the body proportions AND they are comfortable. LOVE THEM!

STATUS: RETURNING This is a great everyday piece but I feel like I have too many of this style in my wardrobe already.

Skies Are Blue Conan Cold Shoulder Embroidered Dress ($78)

I don’t even know how to start describing the love I have for this dress. It’s everything I asked for. Cold Shoulder detail check, intricate, feminine fabric check, lovely fit & length check; it totally is a dream for summer nights. (or days)

Style Tip: This charming dress would look amazing with flats or high heel sandals. I have a vision of wearing it on vacation, for summer nights out, so I paired mine with my cobalt heels. ( via Trunk Club – They are my keeper from this review) I wore my hair in a Fishtail braid. There are so many pretty details on the dress you wouldn’t want to cover. (see my Fishtail Braid Tutorial)

The Kendra Scott drop earrings added to the romantic feel of the outfit, and I used my lace cut out bag to keep the look in the same color family. I wanted the shoes to be the only pop of color. (other than the earrings)

Le Lis Kelden Ruffle Sleeve Blouse ($48)

The fifth & final piece of May Stitch Fix is the ruffle, bell sleeve Le Lis Blouse. If you like this piece, and plan to request it, one word of caution is that it is show through, and most likely will need to be layered. I layered mine with a white tank.

Le Lis Kelden Ruffle Sleeve Blouse

Style Tip: The ruffle sleeve blouse has such a stunning color combination. The yellow pumps were made to be worn with this top; I loved them so much together. I wanted to anchor all the cheerful colors with my recent purchase, white jeans.

Style Tip: For accessories, I chose my new Stella&Dot sunglasses, ornate drop earrings with white accents from Wantable, gold wide bracelet, and the two tone clutch for some contrasting color.

STATUS – RETURNING Although I love the vibrancy of this blouse, the truth is I really need sleeveless / short sleeve styles. I also don’t prefer it when pieces are sheer. The extra layer, in the summer, can be too much on hot days.

Overall Impressions: My milestone 40th Stitch Fix box was a big success with another group of well chosen pieces that spoke to me. I am definitely keeping the lace, cold shoulder dress, and may keep the shoes, and the first dress as well. (Trying to decide still) As a very long time subscriber, I do recommend you try to service for yourself to see how you like it. It’s super fun to wait for a box of pretties.

Looking forward to hear your thoughts on my May Stitch Fix! Which pieces are your favorites? Have you received any fun Stitch Fix’s lately? Can’t wait to hear it all!

You have to keep the dress! It looks amazing on you.

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks so much Kara! Happy Weekend. XOXO, Elif

  • Caroline

I love the shoes because the heels are not too high. Nine West is usually pretty comfortable too. Not sure I can rock the yellow, but it looks great on you. Definitely keep the red dress too!

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Caroline. The pumps were super cute in yellow. I ended up sending back as I am in summer shopping mood and wear heel sandals all the time right now :-)) however loved the style of those pumps. Happy Sunday. XOXO, Elif

  • Sophia

Gorgeous box this month Elif! Keep it all 🙂 I would say keep at least the dresses. They both lool beautiful on you.

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks Sophia 🙂 Although I did not keep the whole box it was a keep all kinda box for sure. Have a fab Sunday. XOXO, Elif

  • Lori

Everything is so lovely. I want to pin the cold shoulder dress. Quick question– what do you do about the dreaded strapless bra? Do you have a favorite brand/ style? Thanks for all the style inspiration!

    • Theboxqueen

Lori, I kept the cold shoulder dress and I am pretty obsessed with it :-))) I wear strapless bras all the time as I seem to like summer styles that require them. I buy this one http://rstyle.me/n/bp9rbd5ez6 from V’s Secret. It’s a multiway with straps for multiple styles of tops but I usually just wear it strapless. I buy it in color nude so it does not show from inside tops. I am SO happy to hear you find style inspiration here, motivates me to share more 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing that. XOXO, Elif

  • Love the pieces you were sent! The cold shoulder dress is so pretty 🙂

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks lovely. I kept the cold shoulder dress. 🙂 XOXO, ELIF

  • Sibel Gultekin

This Stitch Fix is great! My favorites are the two dresses. Personally, I love the color of the yellow shoes, but I think that the heels are a bit too low for me.

    • Theboxqueen

This was such an amazing SF box of pieces. I heart pretty much all the items. I thought the heels on the pumps were rather low for me too. (although they were comfy) Thanks lovely, and happy weekend! XOXO, Elif

  • Logan Long

Those yellow heels are amazing! I’m jealous!

    • Theboxqueen

Logan they were super cute. I found them online too. Thanks for sharing. XOXO, Elif

  • Tara

    • Theboxqueen

Thanks so much Sarah, so sweet of you to say! 🙂 I adored the Cold Shoulder dress the moment I saw it, had to have that prettiness. <3 So happy you stopped by. XOXO, Elif

  • Cheryl

I think this is my favorite SF of yours. Fabulous! Did you end up finding some yellow sandals? I have a pair that I scored from TJ Maxx, and I can’t tell you how often I reach for them.

    • Theboxqueen

Cheryl I don’t know why I am just seeing this comment. Happy I did though, always great to hear from you. I did not find yellow sandals I love yet can you believe it? I know I would wear it a million times if I did, love yellow & how neutral it can be. I just got my July Stitch Fix & this time I may keep everything. 🙂 XOXO, Elif

  • Rachel Henry

Hi! I just got the white dress, and I was curious what kind/brand bra you are wearing? Strapless always seem uncomfortable, maybe its bc I get the wrong size or something haha

    • Theboxqueen

Hi Rachel! I wear this multi way bra that can also be used strapless. http://bit.ly/2961jXI I have two of it in nude, and a couple more colors. I find it to be a bit more versatile than just strapless as you can wear it with straps used different ways. I could not wear so many things I have without strapless bras 🙂 Hope this helps! XOXO, Elif

  • daae00

Wondering… these shoes were (and still are) going for $30 when Stitch Fix sold them to you. That’s one hell of a profit on their end. How do you honestly feel about paying $80 for something that’s never been sold at full price until your order with Stitch Fix?

    • Theboxqueen

Hi! I did not end up keeping the shoes. I always link to the same style (if I can find it) at other retailers and I believe you can also have SF price match. I make my SF keeper decisions based on what I love, and what also seems logical $ wise. (as you can see from many of my reviews, many times I just keep one fave piece 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!! XOXO, Elif
