Hello beautiful ladies of Stitch Fix, and a huge welcome to everyone who has just discovered TheBoxQueen Stitch Fix Reviews. I am so happy you are here, and can’t wait to share my May box with you lovelies. As promised, my May review comes soon after my April one as I couldn’t hold my excitement, and ordered a box earlier than my regular scheduled date.  I’ve received five really pretty pieces that I am having a hard time choosing from. ( I still have my box at home, could you help me choose, and let me know your favorites) I really enjoyed styling each of them, and coordinating the items with each other as well.

In my April Stitch Fix Review, I mentioned my stylist has changed but I wasn’t sure if the change was permanent. Well I received the answer to that in the note included in my May box. I do have a new stylist and the best part is she seems to really get my style in this tiny amount of time. Both my previous box, and this May one are full of colorful, cheerful prints and on trend pieces. She is pretty amazing! We also have another BIG Stitch Fix Gift Card Giveaway today for $400. Make sure to enter before you leave. <3

If you are new to TheBoxQueen, I invite you to start from here to read about how Stitch Fix works, and how to get the best Stitch Fix possible for you!! Also below find some of my Stitch Fix highlights.

You can find my Pinterest Stitch Fix board here. I update it regularly with new Stitch Fix pieces available, and my own SF outfits.

How Stitch Fix Works and How to Get Your Best Fix

At Stitch Fix Website, you fill out a VERY detailed style profile. They ask everything from your height, weight, to top and bottom sizes. You include details on the types of styles you like such as glamorous, preppy or boho as well as a bunch of info on how you want things to fit.

Theboxqueen’s Tip: Be as honest with yourself here as possible. I remember when I first filled my style profile, I answered the Q’s with more of what I dream my style to be rather than what was actually needed for my current lifestyle. I am a mom of three young kids. I love glam style, and incorporate that into my life here and there. The truth is most glam pieces are not functional for my everyday life. I now ask for more casual styles.

My suggestion is to fill out the style profile even if you are not ready to order just now; it’ll give you an idea on your style and you’ll get a sense on what Stitch Fix is about.

  • You pay a $20 styling fee upfront. This is applied to your keepers, so if you keep at least one piece you don’t lose it.  Also when you keep your whole box ( like I did a couple times so far) you get 25% off the entire purchase. I always keep at least one piece as I would hate to lose my styling fee.
  • Make a Pinterest board that is a good representation of your style. Pin types of Stitch Fix pieces you like as well as your own photos so the stylists can see who they are styling and your fashion choices.

Theboxqueen’s Tip: Here is my personal Stitch Fix Pinterest Board. I pin what I like from Stitch Fix here as well as how I styled previous pieces so the stylists can get a better idea of what I like, my body type etc. I think these all help them find the best pieces for me. Feel free to join me there to see what I am liking from new SF items, and my new SF outfits.

  • Leave detailed notes to your stylist when you check out. When it’s time for checking out, they ask you for feedback on your fix. Write why you loved your keeper item(s), and the specific reasons why a piece didn’t work for you.

Theboxqueen’s Tip: I always make sure to include details such as ” The waist was a tad too tight” or ” The color wasn’t flattering on me” or ” The skirt was two inches too short for my taste”. The more specific the better.

  • Make requests but know that there are no guarantees. One fun thing about Stitch Fix is the surprise factor, and how it pushes you out of your comfort zone.
  • If you don’t want to wait too long for fixes, sign up for automatic shipments. You can determine the frequency. I usually go for once a month nowadays but I may make it more frequent again once the new season rolls in.
  • You have three days to decide, and mix and match with your own clothes. When you are done, you send back everything you don’t want to keep; in a prepaid envelope included with your box. Love how quick and easy this system works.
  • I love that SF now offers exchanges. Do you love your items but need a smaller or bigger size? Just let them know to make an exchange.
  • Stitch Fix now offers petite, and maternity styles and recently started Men’s Styling. YAY!!!!!

I get a lot of e-mails with the question ” What do you ask for in your personal style profile?“.

I ask for pieces that are suitable for a mom of three kids under the age of 12, but who also loves cool, trendy items that can easily be mixed and matched. I think you can definitely be a mom, and stay chic especially with comfy pieces high on style. In addition, I ask for colors, a variety of textures, and prints. I think these bring life to your closet, and also to your existing outfits.

STITCH FIX PRICE MATCH UPDATE: I’ve heard that Stitch Fix matched prices if you can find the exact same piece in a lower price point elsewhere but over the many years I’ve been receiving the service, I’ve never experienced this myself. Until the January Review. I fell in love with these BCBGeneration heels the moment I saw them. As its a well known, and widely available brand, I did a research and found them for less. I am happy to report that Stitch Fix Customer Service was SUPER helpful and they matched the online price for the heels. I LOVE Stitch Fix even more. (like that was possible 🙂

In my May Stitch Fix box I received two dresses, a fab pair of strappy heels, a reversible bag, and a cheerful summer top. As always, I am showing you all pieces styled in outfits. Under the photos you’ll find my style tips, outfit details, what I kept/ sent back and why ( in this months case what I plan to do) as well as my reasoning. Lets take a peak to the contents of my box lovelies. Ready?

Stitch Fix styled the Elsie dress with jean jackets in both looks.

Style Tip: I love that my new stylist sent ready made outfits in a box for me in April, and May. This has not happened many times before and is such a nice surprise when I can literally take a few of the items out of my Stitch Fix box and style them together. In this look, I used the striped dress (similar here) ,the reversible tote along with the Tahari strappy heels ( which I found in four colors) and paired them with earrings from my latest Rocksbox. ( You can try Rocksbox FREE for a MONTH here)

Status – Dress: Deciding ( Pls help me! 🙂

As I mentioned in the beginning, I still have this months Stitch Fix home with me, and I am undecided on this dress. I love the embroidered striped dress, and seriously considering keeping it. One thing I am wondering is the cut. Is it too loose on me? What do you ladies think? Should I keep it?

Street Level Innes Reversible Tote
Street Level Innes Reversible Tote

This tote has been a staple in Nordstrom’s online store for a couple years in different colors, and fabrics. I’ve found this similar one online by the same brand  but the Stitch Fix version with one faux leather side, and one fabric side is super versatile.

Although in theory I like reversible bags, in reality I find that one side gets dirtier after a while and becomes a bit unusable. I carry make up, perfume, and sometimes snacks for the kids in my large bags, and inevitably the inside of my bags sometimes get a bit messy.

Tahari Strappy heels look very flattering on, and are a very easy to wear style that can pair with many outfits. I  found the shoes for less in four different colors here.

I am sending this pair back as I found the same shoe here in four different colors, and fell in love with the pink. My newest  Trunk Club is on its way, and it contains a red pair that I have my eye on. As I also loved the Tahari shoes I could not totally pass them by and thought they would be a great addition to my closet in pink. This is a FAB pair of shoes ladies, especially if you like heels.

Le Sample Leydon Halter Top

Stitch Fix paired the Leydon top with jeans & flat sandals as well as a white skirt and wedges.

Style Tip: This is such a darling top. I love the lively print, and the simple, cool cut. I paired it with ripped & frayed jeans as well as blue pumps. For accessories I chose the neutral bag with a splash of yellow  ( from Viv Tote get 50% OFF with CODE: VTBQueen50 ) along with three neutral colored bracelets to create some contrast.

I am undecided on this top. On one hand I love it for the reasons I listed above, on the other I feel like I have too many of these similar Stitch Fix tops. What do you think ladies? Should I keep?

Stitch Fix styled the French Grey dress with booties, and a chambray top as well as fancier accessories in a second outfit.

Style Tip: I paired the red and blue sleeveless dress (see this super similar one I also love) with my Michael Kors wedges, and the same bag from this box this time the fabric side showing. I chose accessories from Wantable; a stud earring pair, and  a colorful bracelet. ( See my Wantable Reviews here, now accessories come with the Style Edit)

This is the third contender of this box, and a piece I really love. It is a bit short I feel like but I adore the effortless design, and the gorgeous pattern. Should I keep it ladies?

You get the cutest Fixes! I love the striped dress! It looks like a loose, swingy dress that will be perfect for hot summer days! If you don’t want that red and blue dress, I will take it off your hands! I love it too!!

  • Fran Martin Garris

I love both dresses and the halter top. You should definitely keep those pieces. They look great on you!

  • Trenise_S

Amazing Box! I would keep both dresses and the top. I love the colors and they are all perfect for summer!

  • Talba1

The striped dress and the top! Although, the dress is loose it looks grat on you. The top brightens your face. The colors are adorable. And I really like the way the straps are designed.

  • AuthorPA Moore

The stripped dress is very cutel. I think you should keep it.

  • disqus_Y1AkuKUHYW

I am looking forward to some cute wedges this spring!

  • Leah Silver Graves

I would keep the floral dress and the tank top!

  • Jess

send the striped dress back…it’s too loose, not really figure flattering

  • I really like the Laurella Dress! The print is perfect for summer 🙂

  • Jennifer Sakurai

I’m not a major fan of halter tops (or that kind of pattern), but if you love it, keep it. Looks good on you. At first I was waffling on the striped dress, but I’ve decided I really like it even though it’s a loose cut. I would hesitate to have too many such cuts, but one might be nice to combat summer swelter. It’s cute on you! (Have you tried to belt it for when you might want more definition? It would take a certain type of belt, I think, but it’s possible.) And definitely keep the other dress.

  • Ann Bebensee

    Red dress rocks!

  • Rebecca Brewer

I would love a pretty spring dress.

  • Beth Lutz

Hey sweetie I love the colorful halter on you. I am hoping to get a pair of tan sandals and some dark skinnies.

  • Chantelle Walker

  • Kim Henrichs

Hoping to add some business casual fun items!

  • Krista

I would ask for a size smaller on the striped dress- it’s adorable- and I think the top looks great on you!

  • Susan Pertierra

I would like to add some sleeveless dresses in paisley, plaid or striped patterns.

  • MichelleS

I like the knit dress because it’s just “throw on and go” wear-my kind of item.

  • mickeyfan

I need some cute floral tops and fun colored sandals.

  • markathy

I want some easy carefree shift dresses

  • wins4me

  • Liz Schnautz

I love the French Grey Laurella dress! So colorful. Looks comfy, too.

  • Jennifer Reed

I am looking forward to getting something with a bankers stripe this spring season. I have been eyeing something like the Rachel Comey Studio banker-striped cotton-blend top.

  • I love the halter top! I now wish my stitch fix box wasn’t coming on Wed so I could request it 😉 Fingers crossed maybe I will have something similar.

  • Jennie

If you don’t keep the Le Sample top I’ll buy it from you! I love that brand.

The striped dress doesn’t overpower you and is perfect for those meh PMS bloaty days.

I like the blue red floral dress but honestly, you’re so petite that I feel like I see the dress, not you. I make the same mistake sometimes with cute dresses and my husband makes me return them.

  • Jennifer Krychear

That Laurella dress is so pretty and it looks great on you! It’s a definite keeper 🙂

  • Ramya Kailas

I love the French Grey Laurella dress! Perfect for spring and love the color

  • Meghan Watters D’Angelo

I just got the Nine Britton dress in my May fix. I was unsure of the shape as well, but decided to keep it and add a dress clip to the back for a cute detail and to slim down the shape. Now I love it!

  • Caitlin McCord

I like the French Grey Laurella Dress. You’ve got great legs and it helps highlight them. 🙂

  • Karen R

Love both dresses! You paired each with the perfect shoes too! You should swing by my blog and share your style. My new linkup just went live at http://ladyinviolet.com/2017/05/30/white-denim-jacket-under-75/
