Lovely ladies of Stitch Fix! Brr its getting cold out here in the NW. This week we’ve had near freezing temperatures with beautiful sunshine which was actually a very welcome change from constant rain. Among the Christmas gifts I’ve ordered for family, and friends, it was a great surprise to receive my Stitch Fix box. Stitch Fix always makes me feel like I am getting a gift in the mail and this time was no different.

The note that came in my box read that my fab regular stylist was taking time off and this box was styled by a new stylist who I think did a great job figuring out my style & taste. As always you’ll find highlights from my previous Stitch Fix‘s, see all my pieces styled in outfits including shopping details and you’ll hear my thoughts on each item. You’ll also find clickable visuals under “Recreate The Look” I created for each piece. Each visual will take you to the items pictured when you click on it.

STITCH FIX HIGHLIGHTS

In December Stitch Fix  Box I received a knit dress, a kimono cardigan, a bodysuit, a pullover sweater, and  a pair of jeans. I am still undecided about what to keep however I’ll share my style tips, shopping details, and the biggest contenders with you in addition to my thoughts on each piece.

Stitch Fix styled the velvet cardigan with jeans and over a jumpsuit.

Mixed Threads Cailin Velvet Cardigan ($46)

Style Tip: I really liked the texture, color, and print of this cardigan. Velvet is very on trend (similar cardigan here), and I loved that it came in the rich burgundy tones. I wanted to give a bit more definition to it and layered the cardigan tying it up in the front over the navy bodysuit (love this navy bodysuit option) that also came in my December Stitch Fix box.

I am not sure whether it was the intention of my stylist however with the addition of the jeans (love this ripped skinny jeans option) you see here included in my box this look ended up being a whole outfit from Stitch Fix. I accessorized with a tassel statement necklace, and pieces from Wantable. (request accessories from Style Edit)

Stitch Fix styled the ripped skinny jeans in two casual outfits. I like the casual chic look with the blouse and boots.

This pair of skinny jeans has a great fit. They have just the right amount of give and details like the frayed hems and ripped parts. (similar style here)

The stylists at Stitch Fix paired the bodysuit in a more casual outfit with jeans, and in a feminine look with a mini skirt & heels.

This is the bodysuit I layered under the velvet cardigan. I adore the cold shoulder style, the wrap V neckline, and the drape of the fabric. Its a great versatile piece that you can wear on its own or layered under blazers & cardigans. This is a strong contender out of these five items for me. (see a similar option here. I also love this navy bodysuit)

I love how Stitch Fix styled the sweater dress with over the knee boots in one of the outfits and booties and a faux fur vest in the other.

Style Tip: What’s better than a cold shoulder dress? One in a cozy, warm knit fabric of course. <3 ( Lovely similar option) I like the fitted style of the body of the dress and the looser arms that give the dress a cooler vibe. I wanted to add a touch of girliness with these leopard heels, a shoulder bag and drop earrings. ( jewelry from Wantable – ask from Style Edit)

Style Tip: This top has a casual cool feel to it. I wanted to continue that feel with ripped skinny jeans, my new favorite moto jacket and this pair of suede pumps.  The fuschia clutch also from Stitch Fix  gave a pop of color and combines well with the purple. Once again the jewelry is from Wantable. (request from Style Edit)

Hi Elif. Love your blog – i have a question – I have been with stitch fix almost a year now and keep getting a different stylist. Probably had 5 or 6 already. Lately, it seems they don’t look at my Pinterest board and are not sending me cute options. What you got in your December box was nothing like mine! Most times i send them a comment of what I’m looking for, but this time I did not. What’s your secret to receiving such cute and reasonably priced items from Stitch FIx because I must not be doing it right?

    • donna-michelle copas

I have this very same issue. And my prices are way more than these, but the items do not look nearly as great. Please help.

      • Theboxqueen

        Hi Donna,

Hope the above comment will help out even for a bit. Pls let me know your future experiences with them. I am curious to hear. XOXO, Elif

    • Theboxqueen

Hi Denise! Welcome to TheBoxQueen. Sorry I was late to answer; December has been crazy with holiday rush and everyone getting sick at the household. Getting back to my regular schedule 🙂
I think I’ve been super lucky with Stitch Fix after getting a couple mismatched boxes years ago when I first started with them. I’ve been with them soon after the company was found so its been more than five years now. I wrote a full post on how I get my best boxes. It may be an interesting read; however I also will give you a couple ideas below 🙂

      http://www.theboxqueen.com/2017/04/03/how-to-get-your-best-stitch-fix-box/

Throughout the long years, I had only a handful stylists. (no more than six)
I seriously think having had very few people to style me have been the key to getting consistent boxes. I advise that you write customer service an email, tell them that your boxes have been less than stellar, and that you want to stick to the same stylist from now on. (and ask them to assign someone that gets the kind of style you like) You should also mention you want to be styled by that same stylist every time you check out. Customer service is pretty impressive at Stitch Fix and if you complain they do listen.

Make sure to ALWAYS leave a note to your stylist in between boxes. I make sure to let them know if a special event is coming, or if I want to try a certain trend. I also let them know if I want them to stay away from styles I don’t need. (like short sleeves/sleeves in fall & winter) I am always to the point and give direct, straightforward instructions in that sense. 🙂

For price points, I think my past purchase statistics have been helpful for them to adjust this. I am willing to pay more for good basics + quality pieces but as I also shop from my fave stores like Nordstrom quite a bit. (and usually buy my pricier clothing there) I do buy trends/ interesting prints from Stitch Fix and prefer a lower price point for those pieces. My current stylist is great at understanding this.

Hope these and the post I linked to will help. Let me know about your future experiences. I would love to hear how everything goes. Happy Holidays! XOXO, Elif

      • Denise Hochberg Abramow

Elif thank you so much! Hope your family is all feeling better. I’ll try your suggestions and see how that helps with my next box. And I love Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack too — purchase most of my clothing from there when I can, but the box subscriptions are a nice supplement. I’ve tried Trunk CLub as well – but not too impressed with it. Very high priced pieces despite my communications about it and nothing I’ve really loved. Will keep trying with your pointers. Happy New Year!

  • So many cute pieces! I really like the velvet cardigan 🙂

  • That purple sweater is GORGEOUS!

  • Oh while I love the velvet kimono, that purple top is my favourite, what a great colour and such a nice relaxed fit. Definitely the best! It’s nice you got some great pieces even while your normal stylist was unavailable!

Hope you are having a great week! With all of the gifts bought and wrapped I’m enjoying a few quiet days until Christmas.
