My wonderful fellow Stitch Fix ladies, welcome to my Stitch Fix Review April 2019. I love April as usually it starts to warm up here this month in the NW. We just had a week of spring showers but the sunny days are expected to be back soon, and at least we are enjoying all the stunning flowers in bloom.
It’s been very busy couple of weeks in our household since my March Stitch Fix Review. (I know you are probably saying what’s new as this seems to be the trend with me haha) Our oldest daughter has decided which high school she wants to go to, we traveled to a big soccer tournament and I had a bazillion responsibilities I needed to attend to. It looks like it’s only going to get crazier with our daughters middle school graduation coming up that I feel like I NEED summer in my life. That must be just the reason why I asked for all summer ready pieces from my lovely Stitch Fix stylist. AND for those of you wondering, she did deliver. Big Time! 🙂 ( Spoiler Alert! I kept two pieces this time.)
Have you just discovered TheBoxQueen Stitch Fix Reviews? A huge, warm welcome and virtual hugs to you ladies. Below you’ll find every detail about how Stitch Fix works, my Stitch Fix Archive (believe me when I say there are hundreds of Stitch Fix outfits there 🙂 ) and my tips on how to get your best Stitch Fix box personalized for your needs, and taste.
Wondering about Stitch Fix Men? We just reviewed my husband’s March Stitch Fix Men box here. In addition I brought back the reader favorite series Stitch Fix Remix recently where I restyle previous keepers in new looks. See it here ladies.

HOW STITCH FIX WORKS AND HOW TO GET YOUR BEST BOX?
At Stitch Fix Website, you fill out a VERY detailed style profile. They ask everything from your height, weight, to top and bottom sizes. You include details on the types of styles you like such as glamorous, preppy or boho as well as a bunch of info on how you want things to fit.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: Be as honest with yourself here as possible. I remember when I first filled my style profile, I answered the Q’s with more of what I dream my style to be rather than what was actually needed for my current lifestyle. I am a mom of three young kids. I love glam style, and incorporate that into my life here and there. The truth is most glam pieces are not functional for my everyday life. I now ask for more casual styles.
My suggestion is to fill out the style profile even if you are not ready to order just now; it’ll give you an idea on your style and you’ll get a sense on what Stitch Fix is about.
- You pay a $20 styling fee upfront. This is applied to your keepers, so if you keep at least one piece you don’t lose it. Also when you keep your whole box ( like I did a couple times so far) you get 25% off the entire purchase. I always keep at least one piece as I would hate to lose my styling fee.
- Make a Pinterest board that is a good representation of your style. Pin types of Stitch Fix pieces you like as well as your own photos so the stylists can see who they are styling and your fashion choices.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: Here is my personal Stitch Fix Pinterest Board. I pin what I like from Stitch Fix here as well as how I styled previous pieces so the stylists can get a better idea of what I like, my body type etc. I think these all help them find the best pieces for me. Feel free to join me there to see what I am liking from new SF items, and my new SF outfits.
- Leave detailed notes to your stylist when you check out. When it’s time for checking out, they ask you for feedback on your fix. Write why you loved your keeper item(s), and the specific reasons why a piece didn’t work for you.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: I always make sure to include details such as ” The waist was a tad too tight” or ” The color wasn’t flattering on me” or ” The skirt was two inches too short for my taste”. The more specific the better.
- Make requests but know that there are no guarantees. One fun thing about Stitch Fix is the surprise factor, and how it pushes you out of your comfort zone.
- If you don’t want to wait too long for fixes, sign up for automatic shipments. You can determine the frequency. I usually go for once a month nowadays but I may make it more frequent again once the new season rolls in.
- You have three days to decide, and mix and match with your own clothes. When you are done, you send back everything you don’t want to keep; in a prepaid envelope included with your box. Love how quick and easy this system works.
- I love that SF now offers exchanges. Do you love your items but need a smaller or bigger size? Just let them know to make an exchange.
- Stitch Fix now offers petite, plus, maternity, men’s and kids styling services.
WHAT DO I ASK FOR IN MY PERSONAL STYLE PROFILE?
In a gist, I ask for pieces that are suitable for a mom of three kids under the age of 14, but who also loves cool, trendy items that can easily be mixed and matched. I think you can definitely be a mom, and stay chic especially with comfy pieces high on style. In addition, I ask for fun colors, cool details like shoulder cuts, back openings, or lace up designs as well as a variety of textures, and prints. I think these bring life to your closet, and also to your existing outfits. I also utilize the shoes & bags Stitch Fix sends and request them both frequently from my stylists.
HOW DO I DECIDE WHAT TO KEEP?
I am adding this as I get asked ALL the time, since I’ve started reviewing Stitch Fix 5+ years ago, how I decide to keep what I keep out of all the amazing pieces I receive. It’s a fact that my stylist(s) got to know me really well over the years, and I love or like most of the items that come my way as a result. I could literally keep everything majority of the time haha which wouldn’t exactly be practical considering all the style boxes I receive, and independent shopping that I do. 🙂
As a result I came up with a system of only keeping what I need to fill in the blanks of my seasonal wardrobe at the time, from my top favorites of each box. There are many times when I keep more than one piece, and from time to time I keep the whole Stitch Fix box. In general though, I am quite happy if I fall in love with even one piece that also answers a need in my closet.
A great example would be the pair of jeans I kept from my January 2019 Stitch Fix box, or the three pieces I kept from my February 2019 Stitch Fix Review. These pieces all contributed to my winter to spring transitional wardrobe. <3
A NEWER FEATURE OF STITCH FIX I LOVE
Stitch Fix has a newish “My Items” Section that I am so excited for. You can see every single piece that you’ve kept from the personal styling service together in a historical list.
I’ve always wanted Stitch Fix to have this option as many times I wanted to see everything I kept in one place with brands and date of Stitch Fix received. It is a great visual of what I loved from Stitch fix over the years and also serves as a practical visual board where I can look for trends in brands I’ve loved, kinds of pieces I kept etc.
This feature is also wonderful when you are trying to build a capsule wardrobe and want to figure out what to request from your stylist next. <3

STITCH FIX REVIEW APRIL 2019
In my April Stitch Fix box I received a dress, a tank top, a pair of heels, a skirt, and a special bag. Of course I styled everything for you lovelies, and under the photos you’ll see my style tips, what I thought about each item, and you’ll find out what I kept/sent back and why.
As I mentioned in the beginning of the review, I crave summer and everything it symbolizes that I asked for all warm weather pieces from my stylist. I’ll have my eyes set on summer items the next couple months and I am so excited to see what my stylist will continue sending me. She chose some incredible pieces for me for my April Stitch Fix box, and I am happy to say I found two lovely items to add to my closet.
Ready to see everything? Let me take you on a tour inside my April Stitch Fix ladies. 🙂
Stitch Fix styled the Max Studio skirt in two casual day looks. I really like the one paired with the striped top and red flat sandals.
Max Studio Leta Knit Skirt ($48)
STYLE TIP: When it was my time to style the Stitch Fix Max Studio skirt in print I immediately thought of this new top I got. I thought the white top would bring out the white accents in the skirt and that the ruffled, off the shoulder neckline ,as well as the colors on it, would add to the playfulness of my look. I combined the outfit with my beloved Michael Kors wedges. (this years version)
Ladies I bought my MK wedges years ago and they are still going strong, and holding up great. I can’t recommend them enough. The natural bag which is a previous Stitch Fix keeper from this Stitch Fix review completed my skirt look. ( Love this similar style)
Top: Gibson X Hi SugarPlum! – Kept from this Trunk Club Review | Skirt: Stitch Fix (Floral Skirt I Love) | Shoes: Michael Kors | Bag: Previous Stitch Fix Keeper – LOVE this similar Style | Earrings: Sold Out / Similar Option
I love my Hi Sugarplum X Gibson top. It has a lightweight fabric and it looks great untucked too; over shorts and jeans.

STATUS – SKIRT: SENT BACK
Max Studio is a brand I know and like. I actually have at least four pieces from the brand in my own wardrobe. One of the reasons for this is that Nordstrom Rack usually stocks up the brand. I know that Max Studio makes nice pieces and this skirt was no different.
At the end of the day I ended up sending it back as I was not completely in love with the print. If you refer back to the top of this review where I talk about how I choose my Stitch Fix keepers, you’ll see that I only keep pieces that I am absolutely loving. I did like this pattern but did not fall in love so the skirt went back.
Stitch Fix stylists paired the faux wrap dress with wedges in one look and flat sandals & a denim jacket in the other.
Fortune + Ivy Irene Faux Wrap Brushed Knit Dress ($54) + Diba Kyra Suede Lace Up Heel ($90)
STYLE TIP: I am pretty sure I spotted this beauty of a dress in Stitch Fix’s social media or Pinterest previously as it felt super familiar when I got it out of my April box and made me absolutely giddy with its prettiness.
I am not sure where I should start with this Stitch Fix dress. It has a very flattering faux wrap shape and it is slightly more A line from waist down. The high low cut makes it a bit more summer appropriate in my opinion. The color & the darling print is just what I was hoping for. ( Similar style dress here) I paired the dress with the lace up sandals that also came in my April Stitch Fix box. This pair has comfy chunky heels that feel casual enough for everyday but fancy enough to wear with such a gorgeous dress.
I added a shoulder/crossbody bag (same brand option) to the mix to continue the neutral look of the sandals and added a shiny bracelet I kept from Rocksbox to bring in some sparkle. You can sign up to Rocksbox here and try my favorite styling service FREE for a MONTH – no commitment.

STATUS – DRESS: KEPT
If you’ve guessed I kept this dress ladies you were 100% right. I was not very discreet about how heart eyed I was for it was I? 🙂 It was everything I was looking for in a summer dress. I’ve already thought of different ways to accessorize this cutie. <3
STATUS – SHOES: SENT BACK
I sent these shoes back but let me tell you, it was not easy. In the slightest. They were the cutest lace up style, I knew the neutral color would go with everything and the chunky heels were comfy as a big bonus. This pair had everything going for them until I put them on and they felt about half a size too small.
The size was right; my regular shoe size I’ve been wearing forever. This style just must be running a tad small. I thought long and hard about exchanging them but as the problem was sizing I felt nervous thinking the other pair would be too big. In the end they went back. (Similar style I like here)
If you plan to request this pair I would maybe recommend you ask your stylist to size up half a size.
The Alice Blue Halter Blouse was styled with two different pairs of jeans on the Stitch Fix styling cards. I had a very similar idea for my own styling of this top.
Alice Blue Havana Halter Blouse ($44) + Mercado Global Estela Tote ($88)
STYLE TIP:The halter top had the most cheerful tropical print. The blues, reds, and the faint yellow tones created a stunning mix. I thought a pair of white jeans, much similar to the second outfit on the Stitch Fix styling cards, would be the perfect canvas to showcase the striking pattern on this sleeveless top. ( similar style I like here)
The bag I am wearing here not only came in my Stitch Fix April box but it was also from a very meaningful company; Mercado Global. I learned about them for the first time thanks to my April Stitch Fix. They are an accessory brand, and non-profit that empowers rural Latin American women to become entrepreneurs. The women weave the bags and support their families. How can you not love a company with such a great purpose? I adore any company that helps women to be strong, self-sufficient and confident.
In addition to the colorful bag that I print mixed with the floral top, I wore my Rocksbox jewelry (You can sign up to Rocksbox here and try my favorite styling service FREE for a MONTH – no commitment.) and combined my outfit with these new sandals I recently bought from my March Trunk Club Review.

STATUS – TOP: SENT BACK
This top was simply amazing. I loved that it had a bold pattern but also very pleasing combination of colors. (Similar Style One, Similar Style Two )
When it was time to decide whether to keep this top I already had two pieces in mind I wanted to hold on to so I sent this one back. One thing to note may be that I usually prefer more fitted pieces on the top half of my body. Untucked this top was a bit too flowy around my waist and tummy. Still it was a stunning piece I loved. Do not hesitate to request it if it’s your style.
STATUS – BAG: KEPT
There are several great reasons why I decided to keep this bag. I was looking for a cute beach bag and this one I thought fit the bill with its big size, tassel detail and vacation screaming blue and white color combo. In addition, I was completely touched by the company’s mission of empowering women and wanted to support it. Great find, and I am happy I learned about this brand through Stitch Fix. <3
Overall Impressions: Stitch Fix April 2019 was a huge success in every meaning of the word. My stylist listened to all my requests, sent me pieces that are my style and I ended up keeping two items that I know I’ll use frequently in the upcoming season.
