Happy May my beautiful fellow Stitch Fix ladies. <3 I am giddy to bring you my Stitch Fix Review May 2019. This is one of my favorite months of the year. Spring means more predictable sunny days here in the NW and the time I get my summer wardrobe out and finally put fall/winter stuff away until late September. It’s also the time right before summer break for the kids which means family time & some freedom from driving the kids to school & activities on the daily haha. Yay!
Mother’s Day is also in May and as a way to celebrate it with you all, Stitch Fix has been so gracious to partner up with TheBoxQueen and offer one of you lucky readers a $200 Stitch Fix Gift Card. To enter use the Rafflecopter at the end of this review. Make sure to sign up for a FREE Stitch Fix account (if you don’t already have one) via the Rafflecopter link. If you are the winner, Stitch Fix will add the gift card amount to your Stitch Fix account. 🙂
I also want to point out that Stitch Fix Gift Cards make amazing Mother’s Day Gifts, and great last minute option too. They can be delivered to your recipients inbox in minutes, and have always been welcomed with excitement in my experience.

HOW STITCH FIX WORKS AND HOW TO GET YOUR BEST BOX?
At Stitch Fix Website, you fill out a VERY detailed style profile. They ask everything from your height, weight, to top and bottom sizes. You include details on the types of styles you like such as glamorous, preppy or boho as well as a bunch of info on how you want things to fit.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: Be as honest with yourself here as possible. I remember when I first filled my style profile, I answered the Q’s with more of what I dream my style to be rather than what was actually needed for my current lifestyle. I am a mom of three young kids. I love glam style, and incorporate that into my life here and there. The truth is most glam pieces are not functional for my everyday life. I now ask for more casual styles.
My suggestion is to fill out the style profile even if you are not ready to order just now; it’ll give you an idea on your style and you’ll get a sense on what Stitch Fix is about.
- You pay a $20 styling fee upfront. This is applied to your keepers, so if you keep at least one piece you don’t lose it. Also when you keep your whole box ( like I did a couple times so far) you get 25% off the entire purchase. I always keep at least one piece as I would hate to lose my styling fee.
- Make a Pinterest board that is a good representation of your style. Pin types of Stitch Fix pieces you like as well as your own photos so the stylists can see who they are styling and your fashion choices.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: Here is my personal Stitch Fix Pinterest Board. I pin what I like from Stitch Fix here as well as how I styled previous pieces so the stylists can get a better idea of what I like, my body type etc. I think these all help them find the best pieces for me. Feel free to join me there to see what I am liking from new SF items, and my new SF outfits.
- Leave detailed notes to your stylist when you check out. When it’s time for checking out, they ask you for feedback on your fix. Write why you loved your keeper item(s), and the specific reasons why a piece didn’t work for you.
Theboxqueen’s Tip: I always make sure to include details such as ” The waist was a tad too tight” or ” The color wasn’t flattering on me” or ” The skirt was two inches too short for my taste”. The more specific the better.
- Make requests but know that there are no guarantees. One fun thing about Stitch Fix is the surprise factor, and how it pushes you out of your comfort zone.
- If you don’t want to wait too long for fixes, sign up for automatic shipments. You can determine the frequency. I usually go for once a month nowadays but I may make it more frequent again once the new season rolls in.
- You have three days to decide, and mix and match with your own clothes. When you are done, you send back everything you don’t want to keep; in a prepaid envelope included with your box. Love how quick and easy this system works.
- I love that SF now offers exchanges. Do you love your items but need a smaller or bigger size? Just let them know to make an exchange.
- Stitch Fix now offers petite, plus, maternity, men’s and kids styling services.
WHAT DO I ASK FOR IN MY PERSONAL STYLE PROFILE?
In a gist, I ask for pieces that are suitable for a mom of three kids under the age of 14, but who also loves cool, trendy items that can easily be mixed and matched. I think you can definitely be a mom, and stay chic especially with comfy pieces high on style. In addition, I ask for fun colors, cool details like shoulder cuts, back openings, or lace up designs as well as a variety of textures, and prints. I think these bring life to your closet, and also to your existing outfits. I also utilize the shoes & bags Stitch Fix sends and request them both frequently from my stylists.
HOW DO I DECIDE WHAT TO KEEP?
I am adding this as I get asked ALL the time, since I’ve started reviewing Stitch Fix 5+ years ago, how I decide to keep what I keep out of all the amazing pieces I receive. It’s a fact that my stylist(s) got to know me really well over the years, and I love or like most of the items that come my way as a result. I could literally keep everything majority of the time haha which wouldn’t exactly be practical considering all the style boxes I receive, and independent shopping that I do. 🙂
As a result I came up with a system of only keeping what I need to fill in the blanks of my seasonal wardrobe at the time, from my top favorites of each box. There are many times when I keep more than one piece, and from time to time I keep the whole Stitch Fix box. In general though, I am quite happy if I fall in love with even one piece that also answers a need in my closet.
A great example would be the pair of jeans I kept from my January 2019 Stitch Fix box, or the three pieces I kept from my February 2019 Stitch Fix Review. These pieces all contributed to my winter to spring transitional wardrobe. <3
A NEWER FEATURE OF STITCH FIX I LOVE
Stitch Fix has a newish “My Items” Section that I am so excited for. You can see every single piece that you’ve kept from the personal styling service together in a historical list.
I’ve always wanted Stitch Fix to have this option as many times I wanted to see everything I kept in one place with brands and date of Stitch Fix received. It is a great visual of what I loved from Stitch fix over the years and also serves as a practical visual board where I can look for trends in brands I’ve loved, kinds of pieces I kept etc.
This feature is also wonderful when you are trying to build a capsule wardrobe and want to figure out what to request from your stylist next. <3

I received a pair of shorts, a maxi dress, two tops, and a tote in my May Stitch Fix box. As I still have some time with the box I would love some help on what to keep and would love to hear your thoughts! Check out under the photos for my notes on which pieces are contenders and which will go back. I’ll probably keep one or two pieces this time. 🙂
STITCH FIX REVIEW MAY 2019
Stitch Fix styled the Market & Spruce top with wide legged pants in one look and in a more formal outfit in the second option.
Style Tip: Everything in this outfit, minus the accessories, is a Stitch Fix piece. Both the top and the shorts came in my May Stitch Fix box and the shoes are my keeper pair from a previous Stitch Fix shipment.
I think the white top with the pretty texture (similar style I like) really complimented the darling floral shorts. (cute floral shorts option) I added one of my favorite wedges (keeper from Stitch Fix) which are also super comfy, (Love this similar style) as well as my Tory Burch printed bag.
For accessories I chose pieces I kept from Rocksbox – my favorite designer jewelry service. You can too try Rocksbox FREE for a MONTH with this link. You’ll love having a never ending high quality jewelry collection at your disposal and the option of purchasing your favorites at a discount. <3
Top: Stitch Fix ( Similar Option Under $30, Another Style I Like) | Shorts: Stitch Fix (Love This Floral Option) | Shoes: Stitch Fix – Similar Style (Keeper From This Review ) | Bag: Tory Burch Tote | Necklace: Kendra Scott Kept from Rocksbox – Try my Favorite Personal Styling Service FREE for A MONTH here – Commitment Free
STATUS – TOP: SENDING BACK
I have a couple of very similar tops in my closet. Although I like the fit, and texture of this beauty, it is probably going back.
RECREATE THE LOOK
Stitch Fix styled the Kut From The Kloth shorts in two casual looks perfect for spring & summer.
STATUS – A STRONG CONTENDER
Ladies I need your help! This pair is one of my strongest contenders from this box. I am probably going to keep these floral shorts. What do you think? I adore their sweet print and nice fit.
Stitch Fix styled the maxi dress with a kimono top in one look and classic white denim jacket in the other.
Style Tip: Out of the box I adored this maxi dress. (another cute floral maxi I own) The pattern mixing is so flattering and the fabric is comfy for everyday wear. I combined it with my wedges I’ve had forever. (this year’s version of the same brand) They are a must have for long dresses if you ask me.
I wanted to add my pearl earrings to bring in a bit of timeless glamour to my look and completed my outfit with the whimsical natural bag that also came in my May Stitch Fix box.
Dress: Stitch Fix ( Floral Dress I Like ) | Shoes: Micheal Kors | Bag: Stitch Fix ( Similar Bag I Love) | Earrings: Sold Out – Same Brand Summer Earrings I Adore
STATUS – ANOTHER CONTENDER
This pretty one is another piece I love but I am undecided on. On one hand I love the pattern mixing of stripes and florals on the other hand I feel like I have too many maxi dresses and that my closet needs shorter versions.

STATUS – A STRONG KEEPER OPTION
This bag is so so charming. I love the natural material and the pom poms. I am not 100% on this item yet as I am considering this similar option. What do you think lovelies? Which one would you prefer?
Stitch Fix combined the grey top with the back detail in two athleisure looks.
Style Tip: This top is a great casual basic. I wanted to create an everyday outfit I could wear to run errands in or to meet a friend for a quick cup of coffee while still feeling stylish.
I paired the top with my white skinnies and added this pair of pink heels to add a girly touch. The pendant necklace brought a bit of interest to the neckline (love this statement piece) and the tassel velvet clutch also from Stitch Fix added that much needed texture.
Top: Stitch Fix ( Similar Style ) | Jeans: White Skinnies | Shoes: Vince Camuto | Bag: Stitch Fix | Necklace: Sold Out / Same Brand Statement Necklace – So Pretty | Earrings:Kept from Rocksbox – Try my Favorite Personal Styling Service FREE for A MONTH here – Commitment Free
STATUS – SENDING BACK
This is a nice, sensible top; in a way too practical for my taste to keep from Stitch Fix. I have a ton of this type of basics in my wardrobe and usually turn to Stitch Fix for more special pieces.

Overall Impressions: I’ve received so many pretties in this box that I can’t decide what to keep. I found super cute styles I love and once again will need to show self restraint haha.
